Russian Opposition Leader Shot Dead in Moscow

Russian Opposition Leader Boris Nemtsov Shot Dead In Moscow

MOSCOW, Feb 28 (Reuters) - Boris Nemtsov, a Russian opposition politician and former deputy prime minister, has been shot dead in central Moscow, the Interior Ministry said early on Saturday.

Nemtsov, 55, an outspoken critic of President Vladimir Putin, had been due to take part on Sunday in the first big opposition protest in months in the Russian capital.

So a coincidence, or is Putin cleaning up a bit of distracting business?

I'll repeat here (since it is in the breaking news section) what I put on the threat in the Europe section that was posted just a short time ago:

Being an opposition member in Russia is a dangerous practice.

You think that the head of state and government and all in a purebred democracy like the Russian Federation would kill a mere little opposition .....
They say it wouldn't be the first one.

Let me be very clear what I mean when I say that he's mad; several years back when Bush was still in office, there was a meeting between the two heads of states. As Dana Perino once recalled, they were having a hard time with Putin trying to understand that Bush didn't control the US Media. Putin just assumed that it was all run by the Bush Administration after Dan Rather was given the boot during that whole controversy. I don't know if it was just the Soviet-era Propaganda that was buried too deeply, or that he is just being fed wrong information and believing it, but he just didn't understand that we had a free press in the US. It's when you have that level of detachment from reality, that I really get scared.

Are we really surprised the ex-KGB spymaster turned President would be in the game for assassinations?

Putin condemned the murder and said it may have been a contract killing, Russian news agencies quoted his spokesman as saying.
He said Putin had been quickly informed of the killing and that the president had expressed his condolences and ordered the security agencies to investigate.

I'm sure he does, just as I'm sure it's just a coincidence that the man was killed just outside of the Kremlin, and just a few days from a march against the war in Ukraine.

Yes, just like all the coincidences that get explained away in America.

Yes because who could forget all those Republicans that were assassinated right?
