Assassinated just across the street from the Kremlin, the highest security area of Moscow. Either an uncommonly brazen act ... or the killers were operating on their home turf.

The note is unsubstanatiated because there are plenty of resources posted from Simplexity in the Europe section that show otherwise.

The Russian agency tasked with investigating the Nemtsov assassination is ... The Investigative Committee of Russia.

Its Director - Alexander Bastrykin - is subordinate to Vladimir Putin who is the Agency Executive. The Investigative Committee not only investigates crimes, it can also prosecute the accused in court. Thus, it can act as a combination of the FBI and the Justice Department. In simple terms, Vladimir Putin is the Executive of the government agency investigating the Nemtsov assassination.

How comfortable is this information in regards to conducting an unbiased investigation/sarcasm.

This isn't proof that the Kremlin is behind the killing. Boris has been repeatedly arrested throughout the years, today's protest would not have been his first rodeo. Anthony Boudain took his food doc to Russia interviewing Boris, and produced a documentary played in the states that was very critical of Russia/Putin. Boris wasn't punished, and yeah, Russia let an American film maker come to Russia and produce a disparaging film and leave with it!! The Kremlin could have disappeared Boris at anytime over the past 15 years, without a trace. There simply is no logic to them doing this in the open and in front of the Kremlin, inviting the global outcry. This theory fails!! However, there would be any number of Western powers that would be both capable and motivated to assassinate Boris in a fashion that would seem to implicate the Kremlin. And, yet another attempt at destabilization of Russia.

Yeah right. A job that MI6, CIA, DGSE or any number of other espionage fronts could pull off.

‘I am not afraid': Tens of thousands march in Moscow to protest killing of prominent Putin rival

    March 1, 2015

MOSCOW — Carrying flowers, portraits and signs that said “I am not afraid,” tens of thousands people somberly marched Sunday in Moscow to mourn opposition politician Boris Nemtsov, whose slaying on the streets of the capital has shaken Russia’s beleaguered opposition. The mourners on Sunday marched to the bridge near the Kremlin where Nemtsov was gunned down shortly before midnight Friday. Chanting “we’ll not forget, we’ll not forgive,” the crowd filled the road along the Moscow River embankment.

Many waved Russian flags. The mood was sombre, with heavy security. Police helicopters flew overhead and police boats patrolled the river. More than 56,000 marchers passed through metal detectors at the start of the route, The New York Times reported citing Russian news media.

As a former deputy prime minister and longtime politician, Nemtsov retained strong ties among Russia’s political and business elite, making his killing additionally shocking. He was killed just hours after a radio interview in which he denounced Putin’s “mad, aggressive and deadly policy of war against Ukraine.” Nemtsov was working on a report presenting evidence that he believed proved that Russian servicemen were fighting with the separatists in Ukraine, despite official denials. Opposition leader Ilya Yashin said it was unlikely the report would ever be published because investigators who searched Nemtsov’s apartment after his death took away his laptop.
Putin's Investigative Committee (see Post 63 above) confiscated Nemtsov's laptop which contained information on the involvement of Russian servicemen in Ukraine. In an interview with Financial Times reporter Kathrin Hille in Moscow just days before his murder, he had this to say about Vladimir Putin...

He is a totally amoral human being. Totally amoral. He is a Leviathan. Putin is very dangerous. He is more dangerous than the Soviets were. In the Soviet Union, there was at least a system, and decisions were taken in the politburo. Decisions about war, decisions to kill people, were not taken by Brezhnev alone, or by Andropov either, but that’s how it works now.
