Never stated they were. But it will run more than 250M for cleanup of 125 years of pollution.

I am not so sure the Rupe is a better alternative, the waters of Prince Rupert Sound are volatile as well. Also the difference would really mean changes in the route, I am not even sure it could be done across that terrain.
Check it out on Google Eartha. See what Kitimat is like. Waters, channels galore. And no more than 300 K longer.

I have been to Prince Rupert, Kitimat and sailed Dixon entrance and Prince Rupert sound.

    Thanks

I don't. But many see Kitimat as a disaster waiting to happen.
Reason I went on GE and looked.
PR ships a lot of cargo and plenty of room for expansion is there not?
As to terrain problems are they any different then using the planned route to Kitimat?

Apparently the state of New Jersey doesn't think so, or they wouldn't have settled for that amount.

It doesn't appear New Jersey feels that way, or again, they wouldn't have settled.

Does it not cross your mind that they could be settling low to stay in the good graces of oil, which happens to be a major interest group? Just because New Jersey settled doesn't mean the settlement is free of corruption.

    http://www.nytimes.com/2015/02/28/ny...T.nav=top-news

A long-fought legal battle to recover $8.9 billion in damages from Exxon Mobil Corporation for the contamination and loss of use of more than 1,500 acres of wetlands, marshes, meadows and waters in northern New Jersey has been quietly settled by the state for around $250 million.

The lawsuits, filed by the State Department of Environmental Protection in 2004, had been litigated by the administrations of four New Jersey governors, finally advancing last year to trial. By then, Exxon’s liability was no longer in dispute; the only issue was how much it would pay in damages.
Bayonne and Linden were wrecked decades ago, and I mean many decades before Exxon's malfeasance.

Maybe they can use this money to save Atlantic City.
