Sorry, just responding to those who made such a deal of a rather small point of mine that was meant as nothing more than just a drive by post.

I wish we could have had Nimoy for a few more years, but at least we had him for 83.
For sure. My 88-year-old aunt looks about 50 and can out work and out walk me despite her health issues that are often inevitable as we grow older. But to the young folks out there who really can't 'fathom' what it is like to be old, I say someday you will understand that the old folks still care, still hope, still love, still feel, still enjoy as passionately as they ever did. It is just that those passions are tempered with experience and might be placed in more realistic perspective. It is sometimes frustrating to have a mind that is still full of possibilities and interests and curiosities as ever--despite the occasional bout of CRS--and the body doesn't quite want to keep pace any more. But trust me. As long as there is quality of life, we want to live life as it comes at us.

So it is with a sense of loss that I note Leonard Nimoy's passing. He gave us a wonderful character that filled our imaginations and gave us many hours of intellectual enjoyment. And yes, all these many years later, I am still a dedicated Trekkie.

I think you are correct. I sat back in my chair when the news flash appeared on my phone. Not a typical response for another actor taking a final curtain call.

A sad day for trekkies everywhere

A lot of us grew up watching him through his iconic character Spock

The Vulcan who epitomized the word cool

Not many characters are more recognized and loved than Spock was.....

    Live long and prosper.....

I mentioned to a young woman who happened to come over today that Nimoy - Spock - had died. She hadn't heard, and she admitted her first thought was that I meant Zachary Quinto, the young Spock. Generations change, and Spock means new things to the new fans.

The character will continue, but will always reflect what Nimoy did.

No one has come close to duplicating the character he defined.
Lived a good life, brought enjoyment to millions of people.
