No, that's not semantics. That's substantive. Net neutrality specifically prohibits what you just predicted.

Politics is so strong in this country nowadays, it's become almost like a religion. Even on an issue like this the opinions are split right along party lines. I never thought I'd see the day where any person who's ever had to deal with a cable company, or Verizon and ATT would ever defend them. It's amazing that anyone would trust those companies. Especially Comcast and TW. There's no bigger scum bags in the world then those 2 companies. They are the worse, and have been for decades.

Net neutrality allows the little guy to be on equal footing with the giant websites. It supports entrepreneurship, making it easier for the little guy to make it big. It's the sort of situation that allows a Facebook to actually beat out a MySpace. Without net neutrality, a MySpace can buy their way into the fast lane because they're big enough, but a fledgling Facebook cannot afford to do so, they get throttled, and nobody wants to use their crappy, slow website.

You can still have tiered service speeds, if you want the 100Mbit package you can still get the 100Mbit package. If the 5Mbit line suits your needs fine, you can still have that. What the ISP can't do is have you pay for 5Mbits but decide that FoxNews.com will only come in at 200kb/sec but MSNBC.com will come in at full speed because your ISP's CEO happens to be liberal and he feels like doing that.

That's not what net neutrality does.

You keep calling it a disaster, can you name a specific regulation that is disastrous?

Correct. It was never an issue.

Because net neutrality previously existed. Were you not aware of that?
