Isis present in All 50 states, FBI director says[W:162]

Re: ISIS present in All 50 states, FBI director says

Maybe not, but when gays are being hanged from their necks, women being shot and beaten, children being refused a proper education, and yet people make excuses for it, then perhaps you can come up with a better word. Would you call that defense 'Islamophilia' or just a lack of knowledge of Islamic terrorist activities around the world? You can answer that best.
yes, few have experienced what happened to the Vietnamese people after the Americans left and the communists took over and llived to tell about it.
Yes, it's the FBI up to their dirty tricks again. How about what happened in the Ivory Coast Sunday? More FBI 'dirty tricks'?
What would you have the American government do?

I would have the US government follow the advice of Thomas Jefferson: Honest friendship with all nations, entangling alliances with none.

And I would have my fellow citizens to be SIGNIFICANTLY skeptical about what they read, see and hear in the mainstream media.

You consider all muslims to be barbaric and cruel, but that is not really the case. Sharia law is founded upon the Koran, our own Judeo-Christian system is founded upon mostly Old Testament rules and principles. IMO, both of them are barbaric.

Strictly speaking, the word you have chosen simply means "loving islam". There is also that thing Jefferson mentioned--respectful and genuine friendship. One need not love islam nor hate islam, ditto Christianity or any other religion. Here in this country we can honor the spirit and letter of the First Amendment: have the government be neutral in all matters religious, and hopefully a secular society will follow suit.

that's fine if other nations feel the same way but Jefferson had hs own problems with Muslims even back then. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_Barbary_War

Good advice.

Excuse moi? Where did I say all Muslims were barbaric and cruel?

You'd have a better argument if the NT didn't exist but, in any case, trying to claim that something else is also bad doesn't make Islam any better.

Yes, that's an optimistic point of view that may eventually be resolved but in the meanwhile we have problems. Of all the major religions Islam is the most backward and retrogressive. I'm willing to support that argument if you want to defend Islam. But you'd have to defend Islam itself and not use false analogies.

Alan Watts, deceased, wrote an article in Playboy back in the 70's, entitled "The Most Dangerous Book in The World", which was about all the violence and wars committed in the name of religious zealotry. I wish I still had that article.

I'm sure he considered the role of the Koran in that calculation, but as I recall, the winner was the Bible. And Alan Watts' studies were in comparative religion. Call me biased, but I agree with Watts.

It probably was the Bible, given his Christian background, because the Koran had little influence in the western world at that time.

It has little influence in the Western world today, except to scare the bejesus out of many americans, with visions of Sharia Law dancing through their heads.

But Watts talked about the Crusades, and the atrocities committed by all religious zealots, both sides. Didn't the Koran exist at that time? Watts was looking at the big picture, something that many folks today are incapable of.

I don't know how many Americans are scared but the government is certainly taking precautions against the possibility of more islamic terrorism.. Would you prefer they stopped?

Yes, the Koran existed in the 1970's. You look at that 'big picture' also, do you?

What precautions is the government taking Grant? Passing the Patriot Act nullification of the Fourth Amendment? Effectively nullifying Habeas Corpus? Patting down Grandma in her wheelchair? Patting down 8 year old children?

You believe whatever you're told Grant. I would be embarrassed.

Not only 8-year-old children but little old ladies in wheelchairs as well. Again, would you prefer the government stopped the surveillance of Muslims or should it continue?

You can quote me in order to secure what I believe but please don't draw your own conclusions.
