It will be if certain agitators decide to take advantage of it. Cops are trained to shoot until the threat is ended. The article states he was shot once and still remained a threat.

A person with a knife has the advantage at close range.

So nothing I have seen up to this points suggests "overkill". Besides, how many shots are appropriate in your view?

Shooting somebody 16 times outside in an open area, who has a knife is unprofessional and barbaric.

According to this data Political Diary: Chicago and Black Criminality - WSJ , despite being only 13% of the city AA's are responsible for 50% of the homocides in the city-they commit a higher share of the crimes.

Point being-simply citing the 75% stat is meaningless unless you can show that they were somehow unjustified.

McDonald had gunshot wounds to the left scalp, neck, left chest, right chest, left elbow, right upper arm, left forearm, right upper leg, left upper back, left elbow, posterior right upper arm, right arm, right forearm, right hand, right lower back, right upper leg.

in 2011 (last I could find) 76% of the murder victims and 70% of the murderers are black in chicago. whites are less than 4% of the murderers.

What was the name of the study and who conducted it? I know how Jason L. Riley is your kind of "AA" as your tidy little acronym implies. Show me the actual data and sample size.

So you're saying the police just rolled up and shot, right? You're saying nothing happened between the cop showing up and the trigger being pulled...no commands were given, the teen didn't ignore comands, the teen didn't come after the cops, the teen wasn't mentality ill and/or on drugs...non of that...the cops just fired imediatly, is what you're presenting here.

The report contradicts the officer statements. The police force here has a long history of corruption, Brutality , overkill and sweeping things under the rug. This is another black eyes against CPD that fits an all-too-familiar MO.

It doesn't take 16 shots to put somebody down, the kid wasn't wearing body armor. Doesn't sound fishy to you? they shot him twice in the back and once in the head.

According to the police he had just slashed their tire.

And its not the number of times, but the placement that determines how deadly a gun shot is.

Heres the autopsy report... Laquan McDonald Autopsy

I have a medical backround, his major injuries were a tracheal disruption, penetrating lung wound with small hemothorax, and a glancing blow to the skull that caused a subdural hematoma.

None of these are immediately fatal, and the rest were fairly minor extremity injuries, or to his sacrum.

This means he could have been a threat. Its going to be exceedingly difficult to convict the cops of any criminal activity, barring some unknown evidence as a reasonable doubt exists.

I think this is an attempt to trump up an event from 5 months ago, it fits a narrative that can distract from the more important events going on.

I was dealing with a tangential issue that involved the race of criminals and those shot by cops.

As I noted-rounds alone don't tell us a whole lot.

BTW you are investigating a pair of homicides. The victim was stabbed 30 times

another was stabbed once.

can you tell which one was a professional hit or which one was some crazed whack job?

How many times, based on your armchair assessment are appropriate? Should they have stopped and offered him hot chocolate after say the 5th shot?

He was dead by the 5th shot. Don't read the autopsy report though.
