And where have you been as the constitution has been used by the left and the right all these years for everything but a supreme land law, hmm? And are you suggesting only the left has had ambitions to amend the constitution? Do you suppose the 22nd amendment was inspired by the democrats.

Microscopically splitting hairs no less. That's typical party power projection.

Give me a break. They're campaign consultants - that's their job. There are also lots of GOP consultants in Israel working for Netanyahu.

    Greetings, F&L.

    1. Is Congress required to clear through the White House any invitations they wish to issue?

    2. When the White wishes to issue invitations, is it required to get Congress's okay to do so?

The reason I ask is because I was taught that each is equal in authority to the others - ie, none of them report to each other, and if the House wants to ask Ronald McDonald or Lady GaGa to speak, they are legally permitted to do so, without getting permission from anyone. Am I incorrect?

It isn't splitting hairs, and it wasn't a minute. How long do you think the administration needs to say yes or no? How incompetent do you allow them to be? The weight of your accusation depends on the time between invitation and acceptance being very short... would 5 hours be long enough? 12? 23 hours and 59 minutes? You have inserted an assumption into your narrative and tried to pass it off as worthy of consideration.

Dremer contacted the White House upon Boehner's official invitation and was not told no by the White House. After getting no objection Dremer accepted the invitation.

This is, once again, a screw up by the White House that the lick boots have spun up into a major breach of protocol.

Where were the screams of the left for breach of protocol when a Democrat delegation, led by Nancy Pelosi, travelled to Syria to meet with Assad in 2007 against the wishes of the White House?

Come on - the parties knew what they were doing, which was intentionally snubbing the WH. You know it, they know it, the world knows it. It's insulting that people are asking adults to pretend anything else.

Here's the advance notice. Boehner: "I gave 'em a heads up that morning"

BTW, if Pelosi had invited Assad to address Congress without notifying the WH, and in spite of WH objections, you'd have a point. Otherwise, it's a pretty lame red herring.
