New woes for HealthCare.gov: Wrong tax info sent out

Here's another example of the mistake it was to put the federal government in charge of something so massive.

New woes for HealthCare.gov: Wrong tax info sent out

WASHINGTON (AP) — In a new setback for the health care law and the people it's supposed to help, the government said Friday it made a tax-reporting error that's fouling up the filings of nearly a million Americans.

After a successful sign-up season, the latest goof could signal new problems with the complex links between President Barack Obama's health care overhaul and the nation's income tax system.

Officials said the government sent the wrong tax information to about 800,000 HealthCare.gov customers, and they're asking those affected to delay filing their 2014 returns. The issue involves a new government form called a 1095-A, which is like a W-2 form for health care for people who got subsidized private coverage under Obama's law.

    That's just hilarious.

Maybe some day people will start to realize that while some people might get screwed if we have millions of private health plans EVERYBODY gets screwed when everyone has the same plan.

Greenbeard should be along any moment to tell us all how this is just a minor glitch in an otherwise wonderful and glorious new law that is working toward the betterment of all mankind.

Prime example of why the government should never get involved in stuff like this.

Is it politically incorrect to question if they're truly inept and couldn't run a lemonade stand, or is it fiscally proper to question the amount of money misspent not once, but twice? Decisions, decisions...

Well, you could do both, as both are quite apropos to the situation in question.

Was it [and the other screw ups] actually a mistake or just another effort to cause it to fail?

After all didn't the Left 'really' want single payer?

The IRS can't do their basic job...collecting taxes...without screwing up and now the Democrats have loaded them up with a half-baked monstrosity in Obamacare to deal with. Is it any surprise to anyone that this situation has happened?

The result is that almost a million people won't get their refund...or won't find out how much they still owe...as soon as they thought they would and a whole bunch of people who thought they already did everything right and filed are going to find out that they might have to pay more...or maybe get more back.

The Republicans need to jump on this debacle. They need to redouble their efforts to flush Obamacare as well as reform our tax code. The best justification? When you make things more and more complicated, screwups happen more and more. When things are simple, they work better and people have the ability to plan ahead and be prepared.

In a week in which I've been notified 1) by a private lender that they sent me a 1098-E with incorrect information (I already filed my taxes and received my refund, so that's very convenient timing!), and 2) by Anthem that they were kind enough to buy me two years of identity theft protection because they potentially lost my "name, date of birth, Social Security number, health care ID number, home address, email address, employment information, including income data" to hackers--I'm supposed to take what from this? That government is just so incompetent?

Guess what, friend. Everyone's incompetent. Public, private, it doesn't really make a difference. Grow up.

Typical government incompetence and liberals want bigger government and more of it. Any bets these changes are not going to benefit the tax payers?
