U.S. Announces Plan for Massive Counter-ISIS Attack [W:228]

The Iraq Invasion was planned for March and the whole world knew about it months in advance. So what did Liddel Hart have to say about that?

Show us a link that proves the launch date of Operation Iraqi Freedom was common knowledge.

Coulda, shoulda, woulda. Suppose it was a fake announcement and they attack next week instead of next month or don't attack at all and just hold siege to the city. Would that be a surprise?

Be sure and let us know when it happens.

Well, it was basically the Iraq invasion in a nut shell.

You're calling our troops idiotic?

LOL, yea. Heard that before. Lets train the locals to be warriors. LOL

The problem is not with the strategy but with the timing. This should have been done back in 2004. We should have told the Iraqi government and people Hey...you KNOW this storm is coming. You have 5 years with our presence to train you to manage the storm. After that...ride it out. We did not.

"....If the Pentagon sticks to its current war plan, one day in March the Air Force and Navy will launch between 300 and 400 cruise missiles at targets in Iraq. As CBS News Correspondent David Martin reports, this is more than number that were launched during the entire 40 days of the first Gulf War.....

On the second day, the plan calls for launching another 300 to 400 cruise missiles. ...

The battle plan is based on a concept developed at the National Defense University. It's called "Shock and Awe" and it focuses on the psychological destruction of the enemy's will to fight rather than the physical destruction of his military forces.....

If Shock and Awe works, there won't be a ground war....."

The world knew Bush intended to invade Iraq and held the largest anti-war protest in human history to try and stop it.....

No, I think you were.

Bush was president in 2004, good admission.

To the bolded. Too bad, the world didn't win.

Looks like ISIS decided to blow-up the Mosul Public Library. As one of their responses. Then the Church of Mary and the University Theater. 9 hrs ago.

While the world was watching the Academy Awards ceremony, the people of Mosul were watching a different show. They were horrified to see ISIS members burn the Mosul public library. Among the many thousands of books it housed, more than 8,000 rare old books and manuscripts were burned. “ISIS militants bombed the Mosul Public Library. They used improvised explosive devices,” said Ghanim al-Ta'an, the director of the library. Notables in Mosul tried to persuade ISIS members to spare the library, but they failed.

On the same day the library was destroyed, ISIS abolished another old church in Mosul: the church of Mary the Virgin. The Mosul University Theater was burned as well, according to eyewitnesses. In al-Anbar province, Western Iraq, the ISIS campaign of burning books has managed to destroy 100,000 titles, according to local officials. Last December, ISIS burned Mosul University’s central library. Iraq, the cradle of civilization, the birthplace of agriculture and writing and the home of the Sumerian, Akkadian, Assyrian, Babylonian and Arab civilizations had never witnessed such an assault on its rich cultural heritage since the Mongol era in the Middle Ages.....snip~

Mornin Monte. :2wave: Nah it didn't say. But they didn't stop there with just Iraq and Mosul. They also made a move in Syria. We knows whats coming next.

Jihadists from the Islamic State group have kidnapped at least 90 Assyrian Christians in northeast Syria, a monitor said on Wednesday. The abductions took place on Tuesday after IS seized two Assyrian villages from Kurdish forces in the province of Hassakeh, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

IS has destroyed churches and Christian shrines in Syria, and demanded that Christians living under its rule pay a tax known as jizya.....snip~

Would you say its for certain they have declared war on Christians?

I think it is clear that they have declared war on everything not ISIS. Christians just give them front page time.

Morning bro. Seems they have declared war on Muslims, woman, Jordanians, journalists, Kurds, etc. can't say they're just picking on Christians. And though Obama's trying not to, the right fundies want him to declare war on Muslims.

Well they are killing plenty of Muslims. Especially any Shia or Alawites they can get their hands on. Plus AQ is going after Shia in Yemen. But you did bring up the point, it looks like any and all and for whatever reason they come up with at the time.

Have you heard about any Mosques other than Shia being destroyed?

Mornin Blue State. :2wave: Yeah and this time they double the number. But they have also been destroying Christian Churches and Relics. More than any other religion.

As they did destroy some Buddhist Shrines too.

Not that I can think of, you. I wouldn't put it past them to attack Sunnis as well, if some of them weren't towing the line.

Morning bud.

They also seem to be very multi-objective focused. Harder to fight. Destroying relics and shrines is the worst. It destroys history. Every conquering army does it though, whether it be burning books or covering up propaganda.

The ones around Baghdad should be particularly worried. They have supported Saddam, then the US and then whoever comes to power next.

Well they did behead some Sunni Clerics in Mosul when they took it.....since then I haven't heard much about going after Muslim Clerics. Plus they did attack the Saud on the Border. But not so much because they are Sunni.

Right, so. I think its safe to say they'll declare war on any impediment, regardless. Trying to frame this as Muslim verses Christian isn't just inaccurate, it feeds into the Islamic State rhetoric. Which is what Bush learned to avoid, and what Obama's now trying to avoid despite the rights insistence that it be made into a religious crusade by both.

Well Sisi of Egypt, is helping to put things into perspective with some of the religious aspect. Oh and its not just the Right here in the US. Others around the world are questioning the point you bring up. But then they aren't looking at Bush or BO.

Give me their names, I'll criticize them too! Nobody should be feeding into the Islamic States narrative.

Well the king of Jordan is one.....another would be the UAE. Their not feeding into their narrative tho.....they are just calling them out for what they are. Plus they know what they do now. Doesn't have to do with Bush or BO. They clearly know who is the cause of what is taking place and by whose actions alone.

Also they know the Christians don't have anything to do with any policy in Iraq, Syria, or Libya. That they are not the ruling government. Nor are their people holding any power.

The king of Jordan (can't believe there's still kings in 2015) is calling this a Muslim on Christian war????
