I don't see the sense in announcing an attack UNLESS one wants so start a prolonged war whereby the president and congress (which hasn't really objected to this announcement) wish to enrich the industrial military complex.
It's a brilliant idea and makes some real problems for ISIS, including recruitment. 80,000 Iraqis backup up by Western and ME airpower, heavy group equipment and intelligence are going to attack 2,000 ISIS fighters.
What does ISIS do? Flee? Stay and be slaughtered? It isn't easy to recruit people to go to slaughter zone either.
And it known the Iraqi military isn't going to be nice in interrogations to determine who is and isn't ISIS.
As for those claiming we are telling ISIS our tactics? This hasn't been done at all. The only thing announced is that a massive attack to liberate the city of Mosul is coming. This is long overdue.
This operation either, won't happen, or a half hearted attempt will be made, mthen Obama can say, "see? I'm doing something. I tried to launch an offensive, but I couldn't, because fill in excuse here.
You rightwing armchair generals kill me!
