Well, I can at least say I have been there before and in the thick of it. With an enemy that I think would kick the **** out of any Arab Terrorist Organizations. But then I know what the NVA are capable of.

Are USSF's claiming that the Islamic State is formidable?

OK, so what possible motivations are there for the military to announce to their enemies and the world when there are going to be taking major military action? I can't think of any. I can't see any military advantages in doing this in least. However, I can see political advantages, as in 'yes we have a strategy' (and no they don't).

So ball in your court. What is the military's motivations for compromising operation security?

Not too many people in the administration can do that.

[B]With the Obama White House left reeling from the "savage" slaughter of an American journalist held hostage by ISIS terrorists, military options are being considered against an adversary who officials say is growing in strength and is much more capable than the one faced when the group was called "al Qaeda-Iraq" during the U.S. war from 2003-2011. ISIS appeared to have a sophisticated and well thought-out plan for establishing its "Islamic Caliphate" from northern Syria across the western and northern deserts of Iraq, many experts and officials have said, and support from hostage-taking, robbery and sympathetic donations to fund it. They use drones to gather overhead intel on targets and effectively commandeer captured military vehicles including American Humvees -- and munitions."They tried to push out as far as they thought they could and were fully prepared to pull back a little bit when we beat them back with airstrikes around Erbil. And they were fine with that, and ready to hold all of the ground they have now," a second official told ABC News. U.S. special operations forces under the Joint Special Operations Command and U.S. Special Operations Command keep close tabs on the military evolution of ISIS and both its combat and terrorism -- called "asymmetric" -- capabilities, officials told ABC News. A primary reason is in anticipation of possibly fighting them, which a full squadron of special mission unit operators did in the Independence Day raid on an ISIS camp in Raqqah, Syria. "They're incredible fighters. ISIS teams in many places use special operations TTPs," said the second official, who has considerable combat experience, using the military term for "tactics, techniques and procedures."....snip~ISIS an 'Incredible' Fighting Force, US Special Ops Sources Say

    1) Cool. Lots of quotes..absolutely NO named sources other than "anonymous" and "Chuck Hagel" (Lies of the empire: Chuck Hagel on ISIS, Assad (Annotated)) whom if my memory is correct, was no less a war monger than his predecessor, Donald Rumsfeld, who lied through his teeth about Iraq. My guess here is that belief in the need of war to solve a problem and belief in the need to seek out lies that justify the use of war, tend to be ideologically pigeonholed within the right wing.

    2) Study: 'U.S. Army officers lie' routinely -- Nuff said

    3) US Military Lies - Naw...the government only lies, not the US Military.....

The proper name associated to people who tenaciously cling to lies that support their ideology is called; Confirmation Bias.

Tell that to ABC they did the interview. They did say Officials(plural) From a US Special Operations Command. Which included a report from a full squad that went into Raqqah Syria.

So one can see how they would not name them if still operational.

But now.....why would BO's own Team Lie?

And how does those links help you now?

re: U.S. Announces Plan for Massive Counter-ISIS Attack [W:228]

I'm not an expert on tactics -far from it. But it looks like some house to house fighting is gonna be needed to clean out Mosul.
In defense of the Pentagon, liberating Mosul isn't exactly a secret - I did hear the Peshmerga are going to stay north to keep ISIL from retreating.

I also question the will/readiness of the Iraqis - I assume US will lead?
There is also the question of the Iranians, are they going to fight with the Iraqis? Is the Iraqi army capable of fighting together
    with Shia & Sunni's?

I think the announcement was supposed to motivate the Iraqis ( what I read someplace)..But I don't see anything we can do to motivate.
It's up to them to do this -we aren't going to send in heavy ground forces, we just aren't Obama won't risk anything for all his talk
