You mean tax cuts and non-necessary expenditures.

States investing in their state's higher education institutions is a smart investment because well educated people will attract well paying jobs. He is really no fan of education on several counts. For one, he wants to cut funds from the University of Wisconsin (HERE: UW System predicts layoffs, no campus closings under budget cuts

Now it's understandable for many states to have cut funds to education if they were short on state revenue, but to have a surplus in revenue and to give back while cutting in such areas is irresponsible at best.

Well he seems to think rebuilding some of his roads and bridges is important (which may very well be true) but you can't call that "non-necessary" expenditures.

Are you a teacher that will be affected in that state?

Cutting funds for higher education will effect far more than just teachers. This effects those who will be attending such institutions.

States spending excess budget dollars on ANY programs is not smart. California is eating the pain because of their decisions to do just that. Now the parties in California want Brown to invest in social programs with the surplus dollars to restore programs that were cut. Which means when there isnt a surplus next year...guess what gets cut again.

Maybe by NOT expanding spending in Wisconsin higher education, the universities will have to actually run their programs efficiently. Ohmigawd...the horrah!

You keep forgetting the fact that the previous governor with his excess spending STILL cut education dollars and union/teachers jobs.

Efficiently, by cutting programs? Florida did that by essentially not having a computer science program in the University of FL. Also, as I already mentioned, many states had no revenue at all and needed to cut which was tragic in itself, but highly irresponsible if they ran a surplus and decided to give it back to the state's richest instead of funding its educational system. This harms the middle class.

Still in the hole no matter what you want to call it.
Education- non necessary- Read what his expectations are and tell me if they are achievable- now consider his expectations with the tax cuts.
