Fort Carson brigade headed to Kuwait...

...for possible showdown with ISIS

If you are interested in a history of the Brigade, you can read about them here: Fort Carson | 4th Infantry Division

So..."no boots on the ground", eh? Sounds like Obama is having a change of heart. Or maybe he's trying to scare ISIS a bit. I don't know, but I don't think those radical Islamists are the type to scare easily.

In any event, if Obama decides to send these guys into combat, I hope to god he doesn't hold them back. These guys will kick ass and take names if he lets them.

steadfast and loyal, send 4id over there, but it wont be as awesome since they already tore down saddams statue.

well being a former soldier in 4id,i can say it could be worse,it could have been 1st cav messing up roe.

Sounds more like heavy support operations for convoys and the like. If we were going after them hard, you would see deployments out of Bragg and Benning

during the initial iraq invasion in 03,3id and 4id made up the bulk of the forces.if they plan to fight in sysria and iraq against isis in the future,4id and other infantry divisions would be best suited if they planned a constant presence, due to logistical advantages, while units from bragg and benning arent as equipped for long drawn out wars without support from other units, they are rapidly deployable units, not standard infantry units.

The Ivy Division is also the ones who pulled Saddam out of his hole like a worm.

i was only in the aviation brigade of 4id(i begged numerous times to transfer even after 4id left fort hood)but ive heard all about it,i still remember the 4id march, and theres still the 4id memorial on fort hood long after 4id left,a new unit runs the building, but the memorial remains under orders of the post commander.

While you are right that they were the unit that was there pulling security on that day they for sure not the ones who actually did the work of tracking or capturing him. Let's be honest here. Lol

Ive wondered about that. Im sure they are sturdy, but they are still tires.
I'd guess they are more susceptible to damage but are also lighter and aid (some) mobility which would be a plus.

Are they crap?

They're probably not crap. I'm just a fan of tracks, but tracks have their shortcomings, too. Repairing a thrown track can turn into a real bugbear.

Yeah, we all know we couldn't have won the war without SF.

Depends on who you talk to. I don't have any experience with the vehicle, so all I can do is relay the opinions of others. Here are some of them:

Depends on where they are used...

War, the military, COIN and stuff: Pros and Cons of Strykers in Afghanistan

It's a piece of junk...

Soldiers love it...

Soldier views on Strykers should still count the most

Sure...

I think I'm being more honest than those who say Obama got bin Laden.

No one is talking about SF and making up straw-men and putting words in other people's mouths only makes you look like a retard. But carry on though.

Stupid double posts...

Thank you for your service. 5 combat patches? Props.

I have no doubt they will slay our enemies.

Thank you. Five combat patches might sound impressive, but it's really not that big of a deal.

I got one for my first tour in Vietnam

I got two for my second tour because my unit was being rotated back to the States and I stayed...transfered to a different unit under a different command.

And two for the Gulf War because my unit was switched from 1st Cav command to 4ID command. That one was a real pain in the butt. That was before the velcro patches...can you imagine how hard it is to find a seamstress in the desert? LOL!!

Here's one jacket that never got switched:

Enlisted at 17...two tours in Vietnam...got out after 6 years...out 8 years...went back in...Basic again, AIT for different MOS...6 1/2 years in Germany...came to Ft. Carson. Desert Shield/Storm.

Interesting tidbit: When I did Basic the second time, I was the only one in my BCT Company who had a combat patch on my Class A uniform...not even the Drill Sergeants had one.

Thats a wide swathe. From the cold war to fighting arab dictators. Probably adds insight to the current mess.

I've certainly had some experiences.

But enough about me...I never intended to tell my story here.

As far as the current mess goes...look, on the one hand, the only times I really felt like I was doing my job was during war time. On the other hand, I DON'T like war...it really does suck. But I recognize that sometimes it's a fact of life. But above all, I believe that if we are going to fight...then FIGHT...with everything necessary to end the war.

That's something that Obama doesn't seem to understand and, as I've said many times, he doesn't do anything unless it benefits him politically. That's why I worry that if the 3rd Brigade sees action he won't let them do it like they can...and should.

Obama would have not only our Military but the largest coalition of Arab militaries in history if he wants them-but he does not. I can entirely see him sending out troops into harms way with idiotic rules of engagement.
