Madison, Wisconsin — Likely 2016 presidential candidate Scott Walker refused to say Wednesday whether he believes in the theory of evolution, dodging that question and several others about foreign policy after delivering a speech about global trade in London.

"I'm going to punt on that one as well," said Wisconsin's Republican governor when asked about evolution at the end of an hour-long appearance at the prestigious Chatham House think tank. "That's a question a politician shouldn't be involved in one way or the other. So I'm going to leave that up to you."

The British audience groaned and also laughed at Walker. The moderator says "Oh REALLY??? ANY British politician, right or left, would laugh and say 'yes of course evolution is true.'"

Thanks Scott, for demonstrating to the world how backward and superstitious one of America's two great political parties are. :3oops:

If he's an embarrassment, he has a lot of company here!

If that's the best ya' got to criticize Scott Walker, he's got more of a chance than I thought.

Re: Scott Walker--Embarrassment to America

Had Walker answered any questions on US foreign policy 2 years prior to an election especially while the President is trying to figure out what to do and how to handle ISIS and Syria, certain folk would have jumped on that as well. And rightly so. It would be inappropriate for a state governor to undermine US foreign policy.

But you are 100% correct Maggie. Theres a whole lot of people going to be responding to every GOP candidate out of fear. Hillary suddenly has gone MIA and is nowhere near the rock solid lock everyone thought she was going to be. Even members within her own party are embarrassed of her and want someone else to run.

Re: Scott Walker--Embarrassment to America

I believe this is the wrong forum for this thread.

Re: Scott Walker--Embarrassment to America

The US would lose a lot of credibility both foreign and domestic if it elected someone who doesn't believe in science.

I think Walker just kissed his chance for the nomination, goodbye.

Why is evolution important for an administrator>

Re: Scott Walker--Embarrassment to America

It isn't.

That's what I was thinking. Manage the economy and foreign policy and I don't care if he believes in the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

Re: Scott Walker--Embarrassment to America

Could damage scientific advancement. We don't need any presidents that deny evolution or believe the earth is flat.

Re: Scott Walker--Embarrassment to America

It is 2015.

If you can't accept proven scientific fact, and instead have to cling to dogmatic fables, you are not bright enough to run a country.

The future of national security via climate/energy/etc all relies on major advances in science.

To elect someone who would claim MRSA is another liberal science grant-seek .... is .... patently stupid on its face.

Nice straw man.

Re: Scott Walker--Embarrassment to America

Nice straw man.

how so? MRSA is point positive proof of evolution.

if you disagree, go get infected and take the old medicines. prove us wrong.

Somehow I doubt you have the courage of your convictions to do so........
why?

You're example has nothing to do with what Walker does or doesn't believe. He could believe in evolution, he could believe in intelligent design or he could believe in creation. You don't know because he didn't say. You were however quick to jump to conclusions.

Considering that he believes in science and you wouldn't vote for him ANYWAY, this is stunning insight from you... really.

1) the fact you differentiate that into 3 is stupid on its face and misleading

2) the fact he "punted" says his position. he refuses to affirm what is WELL known to have scientific evidence and ZERO refutation to date.

Doing math that a 3 year old should be able to....
1+2==== denier? (occam's razor, eh?)

your terrible wording aside, if he did, he wouldn't have "punted the question".

Your inability to understand the three different belief systems about evolution and creation doesn't invalidate them. Evolution is a political shiny object that idiots use as a litmus test to test a candidates belief in science generally. Are you so foolish that you think that creationists can't believe in chemistry, climatology, physics or botany?

Understand that as an atheist, I don't believe in creation however I am respectful of the beliefs of others.

Ignoring the fact that you (falsely)conflate evolution to origin; explain the difference between "intelligent design" and "creationism" then.

The theory of intelligent design postulates that God created life on earth and that life evolved with God's guidance. Creationists believe that God made the world the way it is and that's enough. Again, with your mastery of google, you should be able to look this up.

Do (Christians per your* use of the word 'God') who believe in either of these 2 worship the same god?

You know, the one who is infallible, omniscient, omnipotent, etc?

Oh, and why did you ignore that I asked you about conflating evolution to origin?
Dishonest hack, much?

Re: Scott Walker--Embarrassment to America

ps, will you take the MRSA challenge and report back?

Curious minds want to know if you can disprove evolution.

Your first question is idiotic. Figure it out for yourself.

Your second question wasn't about evolution. It was about wether Scot Walker believed in evolution or creation, which I've already addressed.

As to your third question, no.
