School worksheet tells kids GOP thinks helping poor 'waste of money,' parent [W:78]

Re: School worksheet tells kids GOP thinks helping poor 'waste of money,' parent clai

Ignoring for a moment one quiz in one teacher's class would never be an overall reflection of the school as a whole...is that not what Republicans are constantly saying? Oh sure, they don't use such plain terms, but are they not the ones who keep saying the government shouldn't support the poor, they need to get out and get a job and support themselves? Aren't they the ones saying the government shouldn't help the poor, it should be left up to charities?

I guess I don't understand the furor here when it's basically what Republicans have been saying for years.

The government should help the poor. Help them get jobs. Help them get off drugs, get out of crime ridden areas, and that kind of thing. I'm a republican. I don't like welfare because I don't think it works. If it did, then the generations of people ON welfare wouldn't be on welfare anymore.

Re: School worksheet tells kids GOP thinks helping poor 'waste of money,' parent clai

if it's true, it's indefensible... though i have no doubts some will try to defend it ( as some already are)

folks who pull these kind of stunts have no place educating our children, period....end of story.... such people simply cannot be trusted.

Re: School worksheet tells kids GOP thinks helping poor 'waste of money,' parent clai

Wow how condesecing....and that's all you shoot back with?

Nice

Some things are so far off the reservation, pity requires a soft approach. Then I start looking for that glass we were discussing previously....

Re: School worksheet tells kids GOP thinks helping poor 'waste of money,' parent clai

Can I help it how you're perceived?
Umm, unless you're just incredibly stupid, then yes, you can. Put aside the partisanship for a moment and you'll easily see how dumb it was to suggest I was a shill.
Shoot me. :doh
So many responses I'd love to give here...

If you do not appreciate the idea this is what people think of you, then perhaps you ought to reflect on WHY this is the view of you. :2razz:

Re: School worksheet tells kids GOP thinks helping poor 'waste of money,' parent clai

What an absurd statement in response to my post.

Do you deny Liberal/Progressives are encouraging illegal aliens to come here, and are providing safe harbor? The only reason the numbers have declined is because of the anemic recovery caused by the Presidents and Congresses inept efforts.

I don't see anyone encouraging illegal immigration myself, but even if they are, somehow between Reagan's amnesty and Obama, 12 million arrived here, and now that the total is less than 12 million, it's a CRISIS!!! And it doesn't matter why, really. The fact is illegal immigration is less of a problem in 2105 than at any time since Reagan. Besides, Obama has deported more illegals than any POTUS in recent history. But it's still a CRISIS!! Gosh, can't figure out why that might be.....

BTW, the people you're saying are getting a 'safe harbor' are children. Yeah, that's awful we're treating them humanly.

Re: School worksheet tells kids GOP thinks helping poor 'waste of money,' parent clai

Must be common core.

I really wish people would learn what common core is.

Re: School worksheet tells kids GOP thinks helping poor 'waste of money,' parent clai

Republican position is it's a waste of taxpayer money to continue to fund those who are poor.

False. It doesn't get more true by stating a falsehood again.

But you WILL find Republicans who complain helping those who are poor is a waste of money.

First, can you show me one such Republican that wants to abolish all assistance to the poor?

Second, does that one Republican, assuming you find one, validate the blanket statement?

I understand what you're saying. You're saying Republicans don't mind helping those who truly need it but don't want to help those who are lazy. I get it. But the Republican message has long been "it's not the government's job to help".

False. Again, patently false.

How about trying to give one that isn't a personal insult?

I and others disagree with you, that IS the nature of debate. Now, if you could address in an adult way what it is about this "poll" that is any way NOT propaganda.

Start with the limited and obviously left wing oriented options...if this is a survey where is "give to the poor with financial responsibility", instead it rests on a them of not at all, which is no one's ideology not matter how many times you insist every Republican on the face of the earth wants no help.

Re: School worksheet tells kids GOP thinks helping poor 'waste of money,' parent clai

7. "Call it the stupidity of the American voter or whatever, but basically, that was really, really critical to get the thing to pass."

Well played.

Thank you.

They know not what they have created......

Re: School worksheet tells kids GOP thinks helping poor 'waste of money,' parent clai

Yes, she should be held responsible for her actions.

I know Republicans who have that exact view though... they also add in that teaching brown people is a waste of time. I am not saying the comments are good but they are certainly not inaccurate. Sure, it is left leaning and I would choose some better negative ones about the liberals to balance it out but as a leaning conservative I don't see much of an issue here.

Re: School worksheet tells kids GOP thinks helping poor 'waste of money,' parent clai

Nothing sinister or unhealthy about subjecting your kids to today's indoctrinations at the old schoolhouse, I'm sure.

Since the alleged student thought helping the poor is fascism, I would say the child's indoctrination began at home.

Re: School worksheet tells kids GOP thinks helping poor 'waste of money,' parent clai

No no, YOU missed the point.
I didn't miss it.

The point is that Republicans DO take this position verbally. The question, though not really proper, is valid in the sense it is what Republicans publicly say.
W/E

You BELIEVE Democrats hold such a position, but Democrats do not publicly claim a position.
I already said they do NOT claim a position they just do it. See my prior post.

Let's put it another way. If one of the questions was "People should not own a gun which is not on file with the government", then it would be something Democrats have said. Then THAT would be a valid quiz statement. But Democrats do NOT publicly claim what you believe they do, so it wouldn't be a valid quiz statement.
Says you. I know differently as I have Democratic friends who would see no issue with the question in the OP.

Make sense?
Not really, no.

LOL !!

Sure, you " know Republicans " who think teaching Brown people is a waste of time.

Reminds me of the Teaching scandal that took place in Atlanta back in 2008-2009.

You see, Black Teachers pulled their resources and literally changed the Test scores on hundreds, maybe thousands of their students Test scores.

This took place in low income inner city schools. Now, 12 Teachers are on trial including a Principle who received a " Special award " from Obama himself for her miraculous accomplishments.

It wasn't " Republicans " who screwed these kids, it was their own Teachers. Inner city schools don't fail because of " racist Republicans ".

Inner city schools dont suffer because of " racist Republicans ", they suffer because of the consequences of Progressive policies that perpetuate poverty and dependance.

Re: School worksheet tells kids GOP thinks helping poor 'waste of money,' parent clai

Right, must be all our doing (some is, to be sure). Certainly our beliefs are never simplified and mischaracterized as you've done repeatedly. Of course, the first time anyone makes uncomfortable generalizations about Democrats and it's the end of the world.

It's easiest thing in the world to be a liberal, isn't it? You can advocate free flying ponies for everyone without ever considering if it actually does any good or is even possible.

Complains about people who oversimplify republican positions

Oversimplifies liberal positions.

Re: School worksheet tells kids GOP thinks helping poor 'waste of money,' parent clai

If you do not appreciate the idea this is what people think of you, then perhaps you ought to reflect on WHY this is the view of you. :2razz:

When did you become plural?

Re: School worksheet tells kids GOP thinks helping poor 'waste of money,' parent clai

I really wish people would learn what common core is.

That would probably require some sort of educational framework.

Oversimplifies liberal positions.

And yet, I'm guessing you fully approve of one and not the other.

If people think I'm a shill for this school, despite the fact I signed up on the forums nearly two years ago, then I guess the old saying "you can't fix stupid" comes into play.

If someone is so dumb as to think I'm a shill for this school, then I don't guess I really care much why someone would be so stupid.
False. It doesn't get more true by stating a falsehood again.
But it's not false. An oversimplification, perhaps, but not false.

First, can you show me one such Republican that wants to abolish all assistance to the poor?
I can show you many statements from Republicans complaining about governmental assistance to the poor.

False. Again, patently false.
Um, no, it's not false.
How about trying to give one that isn't a personal insult?
It's hard when it's such a perfect setup...

I and others disagree with you
Yes. You're disagreeing about something which has been said numerous times. I cannot help the fact you're denying truth.

Now, if you could address in an adult way what it is about this "poll" that is any way NOT propaganda.
It's not a poll, it's an assignment.

Start with the limited and obviously left wing oriented options...if this is a survey where is "give to the poor with financial responsibility"
It's not a survey. Seriously, read the article. I've told you to do this twice now, please respond next time with some evidence that you've bothered to read. Thank you.

which is no one's ideology not matter how many times you insist every Republican on the face of the earth wants no help.
I've said nothing of the sort. It's amazing how hard it is for some people to actually comprehend an argument that isn't overly simplistic.
I already said they do NOT claim a position they just do it. See my prior post.
And I've already explained why that is completely irrelevant in the context of this discussion. See my numerous prior posts.

Says you. I know differently as I have Democratic friends who would see no issue with the question in the OP.
I wasn't talking about the question in the OP, I was talking about the immigration thing.

God, it is so hard to debate with people who cannot remember what they are talking about.

Not really, no.
You can't even remember what we're discussing. I'm not surprised you didn't get this. I'd explain it slower to you, but it's never helped before.

As I suspected...all hot air.

There is this new invention...it's called Google. Try it. You might learn something though I doubt it..you seem to know it all

Just as I suspected...you haven't even read the article.

There is this new invention...it's called Google. Try it.
What am I supposed to Google? Am I supposed to Google "Why do people post about something they know nothing about"?
you seem to know it all
Well, I at least read the article. How about you try it?

You keep trying to complain this assignment was something more than an assignment, when even the mother of the student said it was an assignment. Again, read the article.

That's what the Nazis said, too.

How many Nazis who did what they were told to do did Hitler fire?

Fill us in.
