Alabama set to become the 37th state to allow gay marriage

Alabama set to become 37th state to allow gay marriage

Alabama on Monday will become the 37th state where gays can legally wed unless the U.S. Supreme Court orders a last-minute stay of a federal judge's decision overturning the state's ban on gay marriage.

The ruling brings gay marriage to the Deep South and to a state considered one of the Bible Belt's most socially conservative. While gay marriage is legal in much of the nation, over half of the 14 states still enforcing bans on gay marriage were located in the South, a swath of resistance stretching from roughly Texas to Kentucky.

As the South begins to fall....the bigots have no where else to go.

More and more are falling, nothing but good news. Now all we need is a reasonable Supreme Court decision on the matter and we can move on.

It kinda makes having two political parties redundant.

Any state left that doesnt want to waste taxpayer $$ on challenges sees the handwriting on the wall.

Well, I'm sure they all do but some prefer to pander to the voters in the Republican party and waste that money in ineffectual challenges to garner those votes next time around...from the dumber voters who dont mind (or realize) the wasted $. Or maybe they dont mind the wasted time and attention spent on this...maybe their states dont have any more important things before their legislatures

But why does it necessitate the Supreme Court to validate the obvious? Tell the sons a bitches to **** off and concentrate on their wars.

Because that is where the challenge went.
