Jordan Unleashes Wrath on ISIS

Why?

Because obviously the Jordanian government wants to look tough after their pilot got burned alive.

But there is a huge difference between bombing useless, lightly defended targets so they can tell the world they 'struck back' and actually taking on ISIS head on.
And if it was 20 F-16's, how did they attack? Was it dropping bombs from 20,000+ feet (where they are safe from ISIS who have few if any guided AA missiles to my knowledge). What kind of bombs? Are they just dropping iron bombs on a town from 5 miles up? Or are they precision bombs?
I simply wish to know how serious they really are about this.
Dropping dumb bombs from 20-30,000 feet on a large town is hardly going to do much but kill a lot of innocent civilians.

And if these attacks are going to continue, are they going to be in this strength because 20 F-16's represents a large percentage of those that Jordan has? Or will the strikes become token gestures and this first strike (if true) was just to make a statement?

Plus, major media sources are traditionally useless when it comes to military reporting.

Why people believe so readily what they are told by major media sources - especially about military matters which are filtered through government sources - is totally beyond me. I believe almost NOTHING they say until I see unbiased confirmation.

Sounds like theres some set of technical facts that you need to see. Odd thats the standard you set.
Jordan has stated they plan to continue attacks and to train forces in Syria. Im sure you can find more out there, but instead it might be easier to just remain suspicious.

And it's odd you take Jordan's word for it.

I will keep that in mind when I have some swamp land...er...waterfront properties to sell.

Good day.

Good day.

I dont see a good reason to believe Jordan is lying here. How committed they are remains to be seen, but these attacks happened.

King Abdullah is a brilliant statesman, diplomat and leader. He's a rare jewel in global politics, a man respected by his people because he strives to serve them, not oppress them. He's been an excellent friend and ally to the west, but always looks to what his own people need without apparent interest in expanding his own personal power.

I have admired him for decades. He has just displayed yet another reason why he's worthy of that admiration. Kudos to the king, who gave his people what they needed and always respects the unique tribal nuances in service to all Jordanians. A genuinely good man.

Jordan is my hero right now, they are responding appropriately. I hope they continue to show this kind of leadership.

It must make ISIS very happy to see Americans attack and undermine their own leaders and country.

It makes them happier that the leader of the US is publicly stating that Christians are just as bad....Giving them cover for their deeds....

Reports from Amman say 30 Jordanian jets struck ISIS targets in both Syria and Iraq. King Abdullah stated that the heavy assaults will continue until ISIS is eliminated.

Bulll****! Obama played two usual, "but...but...they did it tooooo!"

Did you even read the quote I posted? He called them out as barbarians and evil. You live in a fantasy land. It's right there in front of you. Just read it.

Why does he need to offer a disclaimer about ancient deeds of Christians before he can condemn the current actions of radical Islam? Why does anyone?

He doesn't need to but it helps if all muslims don't think that we condemn them all. We want moderate muslims on our side. So he was pointing out that ISIS doesn't represent them and that we can't judge all muslims by the acts of the very worst of them by pointing out that you can't do that to Christians either.

What he said makes perfect sense to anyone who isn't looking to get pissy over a completely accurate comment.

While I'm pleased to see Jordan's response, its a pity they didn't come to their neighbours (president Assad's) aid when the expansion of the Islamic State could have been arrested early on. President Assad has been left to battle his own war on terrorism alone all these years.

Agreed, as a matter of fact and principle, the Islamic State is a ME nemesis that should be confronted by those states which are affected. US involvement in the ME these dozen plus years has only fanned the flames, and exasperated the ME crisis.

But they make up, even using your numbers, 70% of the population. They have the overwhelming numerical superiority. If they're not willing to stand up and fight for what is right, why should we take them at all seriously? The fact is, they all sat by and did nothing while ISIS and ISIL ran rampant over them and now, they're not complaining, they're just whining how unfair it is that anyone blames them for the problem. Well what the hell did they do to stop it? They didn't stop Al Qaeda, they didn't stop the Taliban and now they're not stopping IS. Who the hell's fault is it when it happens in your own backyard?

I'd argue with you, but you're spot on. And it makes this all the more worrisome about what world our grandchildren will live in.

Christ. Read before you post.

He's saying that you can't judge all muslims just by the actions of ISIS just like you can't call all Christians terrible just because other Christians have done terrible things. He's not justifying what ISIS is doing. Posting stupid **** like this is going to make people ignore anything of substance that you might actually say later on. Because they will expect more of what you just posted. Total, dishonest, crap.

You can not possibly be more wrong. The timing of this was intentional, and horribly apologetic on behalf of Muslims who barely lift a finger to help. There is a substantial percentage of them that support ISIS, al-Quaeda, Hezbollah, Hamas, the Muslim Brotherhood, and whatever else faction of this radical Islam that is pervasive throughout the Middle East and spreading like cancer.

Pull your head out of your derriere.

Blah blah blah. You're making stuff up. He condemned them and pointed out that we can't blame all muslims everywhere. It makes sense except for those that are looking to be upset.

You're right. 70 percent of Muslims don't support this. The other 450 million of them do.

And then he warned us not ti get up on our high horse because Christians did it too.

We can't get up on our high horse and judge all muslims. Just like Christians wouldn't want to be judged by the worst of them. I can't spell this out for you any more, it's your job to read it.

President Assad has been left to battle his own war on terrorism alone all these years.

Poor Bashar, all alone! Having read your repeated slanders of the United States here, I'm not the least surprised to see you stick up for a corrupt, anti-American son of a whore like Bashar Assad. You must also have a warm regard for the murdering degenerates who make up the Islamist regime in Tehran that has been supporting Assad all these years. If so, President Limpwrist shares your feelings. He has bent over again and again (he seems very fond of bending over) to curry favor with the mullahs, but despite all his boot-licking, they are as determined as ever to make atom bombs so they can annihilate Israel.

What is happening in Syria and Iraq is in part a reaction by Sunni jihadists to Iran's continued attempt to assert its influence westward, through the Shia in Iraq, through its terrorist proxy Hizballah in Lebanon--and through Assad's regime in Syria. Six years of B. Hussein Obama's appeasement of Tehran has helped fuel the fire he is now making token efforts to put out. Limpwrist never would have done even that much, if ISIS' execution of two Americans had not outraged people here so much it forced him to make a show of doing something.

I read that. While what he says is true, it was a looooong time ago, and the timing wasn't good. I suppose, looking at it in the light most favorable to intentions, he was trying to avoid people attacking innocent muslims (which has happened in our country), and to remind people that most muslims, esp in our country, are not like that. Still, the timing was really bad. It's probably the professor in him, to analyze and think on things.

The president analyzing and thinking on things is never a good idea, at least not from a political viewpoint.

Spoken while you slander the American president. Get a clue here match, criticising US foreign policy is my American right, and I shall continue it as long as the US engages in destructive policies in the Middle East or anywhere else, and no amount of your name calling will disrupt it. Now get back to your justification of US aggressions abroad.

Your defense makes me embarressed for you.
