Rand Paul "Vaccines Can Lead to Profound Mental Disorders"

This is precisely the sort of thing I would expect from Ron Paul's son and why I have always been skeptical of his forthcoming candidacy. Unless he walks this back I'll probably never give him a second thought. Bring on Walker, Bush, Pataki, whomever---but not Paul.

    Ugh.

"For more than two decades, Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul was a member of a group, the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, that advocated a link between vaccinations and autism, among other conspiracy theories."

He was... or maybe still is. I don't know that I buy into the autism stuff.... I think there are other reasons there are so many cases of autism and it mostly has to do with not letting kids be kids, especially when kids are hyper. Of course the more severe cases of autism are real, but I have a difficult time linking it in any factual way to vaccines. I DO however think people should have a choice and those choices have consequences. I also believe people should have more information about what is in these vaccines and long term scientific information on them, as well as changes to vaccines so people can find info and inform themselves.
I think if Thomas Jefferson were looking down, the author of the Bill of Rights, on whats being proposed here, hed agree with it. He would agree that the First Amendment cannot be absolute. - Chuck Schumer (D). Yet, Madison and Mason wrote the Bill of Rights, according to Sheila Jackson Lee, 400 years ago. Yup, it's a fact.

Not surprising. His father has deep ties to a variety of conspiracy theorists, as well as the general anti-Government sentiment that's so common among libertarian circles. To foster these backwards-ass notions from a position of power and influence is the height of irresponsibility.

Wait...a member of the Paul family advocating conspiracy theories and paranoid twaddle?

    Imagine that.

With a lot of studying and hard work, most likely.

    ----------

"Vaccines have saved untold millions of lives, and the vast majority of people who get them suffer no major problems.

But there's a trade-off: occasionally, vaccines cause injury or death. Very rarely, patients are left with what's known as "encephalopathy", the medical term for brain damage.

In fact, CBS News has found nearly 1,300 cases in which vaccine-related brain damage has been compensated in court over the past 20 years.

The debate over any links between vaccines and autism - a behavior problem triggered by brain damage - couldn't be more contentious. The great majority of medical opinion holds that vaccines don't cause autism. However, many of the same experts don't dispute that vaccines can, in rare instances, cause brain damage."

Personally I believe that a lot of people just look for an excuse rather than say, "I am too damn poor and don't have insurance." Either way to each their own. I think that Jehovah Witnesses are silly for refusing blood transfusion, but they have their reasons, and I at least respect their choice even if I disagree with it. I do me. You do you.

The autism link has been debunked for some time.
Paul just took a big step backward in appealing to his backward base.

Christie stepped in his own steaming pile on vaccines in the UK, with his aides having to walk his comments back.

It's now down to Bush and Walker as the only two sane candidates--and they're carefully not talking about vaccines.
And Romney will support Walker .
