On ‘Face the Nation,’ Senators Feinstein, McCain Call For More U.S. Troops In M.E.

Re: On ‘Face the Nation,’ Senators Feinstein, McCain Call For More U.S. Troops In M.E

Even dems are done with Obama's charade. Time to step up and deal with the problem.

Re: On ‘Face the Nation,’ Senators Feinstein, McCain Call For More U.S. Troops In M.E

Who's gonna clear them out of Mosul for example?

You?

You're gonna go door to door in Mosul and clear them out?

How many troops is that going to take?

How many are you willing to lose?

How many is too many to the American public after over a decade of war and nothing to show for it?

Naturally it would take forces from an Army.

Now why would he have to think about doing it. Its not like anything could be relied upon with you. Not even if actually had to be depended upon. As then we would be doomed.

So you have no answers to my questions?

Hardly surprising... shouldn't you still be freaking out over Ebola or something?

That is a different argument. There is a difference between ISIS wanting a ground war against us and us wanting a ground war against them. I am addressing the former and you are addressing the latter. I know why we don't want it. What I am asking is why do they want to tangle with a force that would wipe them out.

I just told you what it would take. But then you did say, you never were at the head of your class. Its not surprising to me.

Now why would I need to freak out where I proved you lied. Like BO Peep.

I was right on Ebola and you were wrong...

Secondly you didn't answer my question, you made a "no ****" statement of "It would take a force of an Army".

Yeah... I asked how many troops and how many are you willing to lose... got an answer to that one champ.

Re: On ‘Face the Nation,’ Senators Feinstein, McCain Call For More U.S. Troops In M.E

Well whaddya know.....Diane Feinstein with McCain are out publicly challenging BO and his mental issues of his ideology. This is indeed a good day to Start a Monday. Another Democrat telling BO how he has got it wrong. What say ye?

Two influential senators are calling on President Barack Obama to send more U.S. ground troops to hotspots around the Middle East.

The suggestion by Republican John McCain and Democrat Dianne Feinstein is a direct challenge to the president, who has said he doesn’t want to increase the U.S. military presence in Yemen despite the deteriorating security condition in that country.

Feinstein, the top Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee, says the U.S. needs more human intelligence in the region and to not rely so heavily on intelligence gathered by technical means.....snip~

Good morning MMC,

Yemen is an interesting case. If I'm not mistaken, the President and Prime Minister in Yemen were opposed by those who challenged US interference in the country including US drone strikes and other anti-al Qaeda operations sanctioned by the Yemeni leadership. I also understand that while this small band of insurgents has taken over some of the government buildings and sites, those supportive of the President and the US have been protesting this opposition move.

If the above is accurate, seems to me that the old Pottery Barn analogy is relevant once again - if you break it, you own it. If the US has become too meddlesome in Yemen to the extent that there is a kind of civil war brewing, the US has an obligation to try to make things right.

Re: On ‘Face the Nation,’ Senators Feinstein, McCain Call For More U.S. Troops In M.E

That sounds like bravado on their part. They would lose a ground war to the US. They would lose badly and quickly. ISIS is a band of brutal thugs, not a military fighting force.

Is that you, Mr. Cheney?

That's still doesn't change the fact that you lied while being partially Right.

It depends on the strategy and tactics used. As that is what it would take. But then you want answers to specifics not knowing how many in Mosul are there supporting them or not knowing how many. So save your BS tangent.

Its called a military strategy. That which a Military staff deals with. Note how it isn't just one man that brings the answers.

You able to figure that out.....yet?

Re: On ‘Face the Nation,’ Senators Feinstein, McCain Call For More U.S. Troops In M.E

You cant possibly believe that the US couldn't wipe out ISIS if it committed the forces.

Actually, you asked that question of me

Mornin CJ. :2wave: Kind of hard to protest with its Parliament surrounded and held captive and their President quitting and being held captive and or in hiding. Johnny quest McCain is no surprise that he would call for Special Forces to be sent to Yemen. But now Feinstein directly challenging BO is another story.

It would be very difficult. Straight up army vs army battle, sure. But this isn't a straight up army vs army battle.

The US took those towns once. They can do it again. But I was speaking to the point that ISIS Wanted a land battle with US forces. I don't see why they would want that

Feinstein is bat**** crazy and falling into full dementia now that she's lost her power and chairmanship. I expect her to show up on Capital Hill in her bathrobe and curlers one day soon, trying to find her kitty cat.

Heya 88. :2wave: Would it be easier with 5 or 6 Armies? Taking an entire city.

There must be SOME reason we keep seeing this approach from our beloved President.
Wonder what it could be.

Good morning Rocket

I tend to agree with your take here. Even more so than in Afghanistan, it is virtually impossible from a distance to tell who is the enemy in the battle with ISIS. It's one thing to be able to bomb ISIS encampments outside of cities and feel pretty safe that you're only hitting enemy positions. But in cities that have been overrun by ISIS combatants, who have terrorized residence into support or death, and when an ISIS combatant can look identical to a friendly, it's virtually impossible for an outside army on the ground to take the battle to them. It will take Iraqis themselves, those who know who is friendly and who isn't, to weed out the enemy and US troops pushing forward on the ground are likely to suffer serious casualties unless they're prepared to annihilate friendlies along with the enemy in a torched earth offensive.

Nope. They'd just move to another city. Weeding out ISIS would require a long term brutal occupation, and by the time ISIS is destroyed we'll have built up enough ill will among the populace for another ISIS to pop up.

In many ways, selling out Assad turns out to have been a blunder.

Re: On ‘Face the Nation,’ Senators Feinstein, McCain Call For More U.S. Troops In M.E

Heya 88. :2wave: Would it be easier with 5 or 6 Armies? Taking an entire city.

The problem is with what happens AFTER the city (or any other area) is "taken". Returning control back to the locals (the original situation) accomplishes absolutely nothing yet that has been our "plan". We are engaged in an endless game of whack-a-mole in areas not under any control at all. Essentially, we pay bribes to the local "officials" for the privilege of zapping a few terrorists and then more bribes to allow us to help establish, arm and train local "security" forces to be placed under their control.

Re: On ‘Face the Nation,’ Senators Feinstein, McCain Call For More U.S. Troops In M.E

After ISIS is eradicated-we need to do what Obama wouldn't do-stay until the job is done-even if that takes years.

Think more like the occupation of Japan and Germany-and less like whatever the hell Obama pulled in Iraq.

They didn't think it would happen after ww2, either...but Americans had more courage then.
