Will Japan go to war with ISIS

I know the tensions have been there for centuries.

I think the tensions and the dislikes are less perceived than they are real.

I dunno.

It's a strange dynamic in many ways.

Chinese don't like Japanese, pretty much end of story.

But they love Japanese products, I saw thousands of Chinese tourists when I toured the country last year.

There's a general animosity but I don't know if most young Chinese comprehend why they even dislike them which will cause it all to fizzle out.

Japanese certainly don't care that much, then again I found politically they don't care about very much at all.

They're pretty apathetic that way.

I'd be shocked if Japan officially "went to war" with anyone, for any reason, save the invasion of their country. Following WWII and the nuclear bombs, Japan has been incredibly anti-war both in policy and public opinion. Considering also the very real aging of their population and their resistance to immigration of non-Japanese descent, I can't see them willingly wanting to put their younger generation, such as it is, in harms way for the sake of two stupid fools who put themselves in harms way in a country that has zero national interest to them.

Japan has a sizable, competent and well equipped Defense Force partially due to perceived Chinese aggression.
That they do, but they don't have the ability to project to the Middle East. At least not by themselves. They'd have to join an already existing coalition.

My view of the geopolitical situation there is only academic. The invasion of China during WW2 I assume would have ruffled some feathers there.

The being apathetic part is surprising to me only in that when I have dealt with anyone Japanese in business they are anything but apathetic. Committed, detail orientated and very concerned about the successful completion of their assignment.

That is very interesting. I suppose those who are sent abroad from Japan are a more disciplined cut of the cloth.

It must be very interesting to be immersed in a different culture both for them and for you.

Sorry I should have been more specific.

Politically I found the Japanese to be apathetic to an extreme degree.

What you've described in their work ethic is 100% accurate.

Not for Japan, I doubt that Japan has the population support for, political desire for, or economic ability to support going to war with ISIS. Take part in a coalition though, that could be another matter.
Does it NOT matter to you that we the USA have no business fighting against ISIL? - let alone that we have no right going to war with a non State group?

We the USA might pressure Japan into the so called "coalition" just as we pressure other Countries into our hostile aggressions, but it is all morally bankrupt for us to be doing.

Does it NOT matter to you that we the USA have no business fighting against ISIL?. . . . .

That is absolutely ridiculous.

He are some Anti-War Protests of the 1930's. They wanted to leave Hitler alone. That was about as good an idea as yours is.

I see it as sad but still beneficial to do some simple history lessons here.

The dominant white culture of the USA wanted to leave Hitler alone because Hitler was one of our own, in that Hitler and the Nazis were in complete harmony with the American "Jim Crow Laws" and with our own hatred of the Jews in the USA, and that is why Americans wanted to let Hitler and the Nazis to carry onward.

The ONLY (only) reason that the USA went into the 2nd World War is because Japan attacked us at Pearl Harbor and THEN (then) the Americans turned our racist bigotries against the Japanese as we became determined to get our violent revenge against those people.

And Japan went to war with us because our USA had created trade sanctions against Japan which were unreasonable, so we were not innocent even at Pearl Harbor.

Next it was Hitler and Nazi Germany which declared war on the USA and only then (only then) did we declare war on Germany in retaliation.

It really is the same ignorant mentality going onward today as it is just our racist view of Muslims and our religious bigotry against Islam, so we create a new kind of war against a small group as ISIL who are defending their homeland, while it is just more of the same old American ignorance based on our hostility and our brute force.

If we were to actually learn from our own past history then we would stop our own barbaric reality immediately.

Every chance that you get you try to sound like a American while being as much anti-American as you can. So what country are you from and whats your native language?

I am born and raised here in Maryland USA, and my parents and grandparents were all Americans.

My father's parents immigrated from Ireland in the late 1800's but my mother side has ancestors going back to the Revolutionary War.

And I have only ever spoken English, but it was largely slang and southern style English which with lots of effort I have cleaned up my language but I can not totally refine.

It is sad to me that so many of my fellow Americans have the view that I must join them in their racist and religious bigotries or else I am being un-American, and so many view that I need to be a warmonger as they are or else I am again being un-American, and I am expected to toot the same lies about our history or else I am being un-American.

Or as you say I am being anti-American because my views of truth and justice are seen as being anti-American too.

I honestly see myself as pro-USA when I stand against the warmongering, and pro-USA when I stand against the lies and the bigotries.

The idea that beheading is something terrible seems so ridiculous to me.

Our USA invades Muslim Countries based on our lies and
we kill millions of people and displace millions of innocent citizens
so what - is our kind of mass murder superior to a few people getting their heads cut off? I say not.

Is our Drone bombs which blow up the people including the killing of bystanders some how a superior form of execution? certainly it is NOT.

Cutting off a person's head is fairly quick and it is done, so are they expected to use a lethal injection instead?

And surely there is no doubt that the USA pressured Japan to NOT pay the ransom money so their blood is on our hands too.

Wrong.

The USA hasn't killed and displaced millions in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Hundreds of thousands, yes, but not millions.

That's a huge exaggeration.

I hope japan does join in. isis had no argument with the japanese and now have one.
Wrong. ISIS took Japanese hostages because the Japanese PM pledged $200 million to help support countries fighting against ISIS (the exact same ransom amount ISIS is demanding that the hostages be freed) and that made them targets. There is a reason why terrorists attack others when they are provoked.

Fixed that for you.

They were, but we blew the oppurtunity to destroy them while they were out in the open. ISIS is 30,000 strong, so they can't be all that inconcentrated.

What makes you think that they were ever "out in the open", and even if they were, what leads you to believe that they wouldn't have dispersed or hide once we started attacking them (just like they did)?

In other words, they were concentrated and out in the open, until we started attacking them, and then they dispersed and hid. If we would have attacked them two months earlier, they would have simply dispersed and hid two months earlier. The end result would have been the same.

And from what I have read, for the most part, ISIS only has a strong foothold in the communities which support them, and are pretty much either on the run, or already decimated, in the areas that don't support ISIS. There's no surprises here.

If we had gotten involved in WW2 earlier, most likely all that would have resulted would have been a longer war. We were in the great depression, and our military was weak, as was our economy. The one thing that might have been better for the US is that we might have come out of the depression earlier due to increases in military spending.

They had an army if 30,000 soldiers. Yeah, you can't just hide 30,000 dudes anywhere. A swift, decisive strike could have killed most of them in one big battle.

The estimates that I first saw were far smaller than that, I assume that ISIS must have grown significantly over the course of last year. Anyhow, it's not like they had 30,000 troops all in one place out in the open, and they just all moved in as one contiguous force. They were spread out over large portions of two different countries.

When I first started seeing news reports about ISIS, the headlines were like "400 ISIS fighters take over XXX". Never did I see any report about thousands of ISIS amassed all in one spot. Those people ain't that stupid. Many of the ISIS units were nothing but a half dozen or so guys in a Mad Max style pickup truck accompanied by a four more fighters in a Toyota Corolla. It really doesn't take to many fighters to take over a "village" of 19 people, 24 sheep, and four camels.

No, it was millions, and the USA just hides our crimes and our atrocities from the public view.

In Iraq alone it had a million person army and that is not counting its civilian population, and the illegal USA invasion simply murdered anyone in their sites and displaced virtually every citizen.

In Afghanistan it was no different.

What is morally bankrupt about killing people who want to kill Americans?

It is morally bankrupt because we are the aggressors and we are the invaders.

Other people in this world are just doing their own self defense against the violent hostilities of our American brutality and wars.

So that is why.

Thank you for explaining that.

They are Them and we are Us. In my book, Us is always more important than Them.

Add into that, that they respond only to superior force and have no intention of stopping their attacks regardless of any diplomacy/etc we may attempt, and that is plenty enough reason for me to prefer them all dead.

I can't believe there are people who think like you.... None of it is all that simple.... if it were as simple as "lets just play nice and say their mean" then we would have done that long ago. We did not cause the crazies in the middle east, they were always there... Globalization has brought them to the world. They are a civilization that is still back in the 12th century, Think of all the bloodshed that had to occur for the West and East to advance themselves.... far far more than what has occurred so far?
