Netanyahu ‘spat in our face,’ White House officials said to say[W:223]

Thanks for this. I want to point out that an earlier poster said that Obama showed his support for Israel by giving them $3 billion in military aid - it's why I asked the question. But I find it interesting that on the first page of the document you provided, it notes that in 2007, President Bush signed a 10 year, $30 billion military aid package for Israel to run through 2018, entirely through and past the Obama two terms. In effect, Obama had nothing to do with it - unless he voted for it while he was in the Senate. It would be interesting to know if he actually voted in favour of this aid package.

Well, if it lists the bill number, you can easily look that up.

It doesn't say - perhaps it never went through Congress - I'm not sure if your President can, by executive order or otherwise, sign such agreements without a Congressional vote. It just notes in the footnotes:

"United States-Israel Memorandum of Understanding, Signed by then U.S. Under Secretary of State R. Nicholas Burns and Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs Director General Aaron Abramovich, August 16, 2007."

Yes the post I linked to, links their report...

This is a completely different document and topic than the first one you linked..

Key words, "may be".

Another giant "may be".

Another giant "may be".

Do you know whats funny. These are two different cited supposed reports. One is about Iran "may be" using domestic production to make parts needed for a reactor and nuclear materials.... The other is about Iran going on a "international shopping spree"....

Amazing what? A bunch of unproven accusations? A bunch of "may be"? You also forget that Arak is under routine exceptions with the latest agreement.

Yeah yeah.....Reuters, FP, UN, Diplomats.....their all wrong. Just you thinking you were Right.

No may be here.....Continued to obtain items. Iran continues to make extensive use of front companies to procure items for prohibited activities. Some companies may be established solely for the purpose of prohibited procurement. In the report.

Despite the apparent dip in procurement activity, Iran has continued to try to obtain items that could play an important role in its enrichment of uranium, the report said. "Iran has been attempting to procure high-grade carbon fiber for use in the manufacturing of some of its centrifuge rotors," the experts said, adding that Tehran has also sought to procure aluminum and other dual-use materials. "Iran continues to make extensive use of front companies to procure items for prohibited activities. Some companies may be established solely for the purpose of prohibited procurement. Others may also be engaged in legitimate business.

Nope....no may be here either. Detailed annexes and even gave the example of how they did it.

Sometimes Iran uses legitimate enterprises to acquire key technology. The report, which includes detailed annexes, cited an example of how Iran used its petrochemical industry as a facade to procure crucial items for its heavy-water nuclear reactor at Arak, a plant that has proven to be a big sticking point in Tehran's nuclear negotiations with the powers.....snip~

Amazing, how you can't tell the difference between maybe and what was discovered. But don't worry, I wont tell anybody.

Yes, because we know that "unnamed sources" tend to be super accurate most of the time.

They sure are good enough for liberals when they support their arguments...It's the way DC gets its points out on both sides and you know that.

Nothing's wrong with me Grim17. Just the GOP posters on here claiming Obama is anti-Semitic and wants Iran to exterminate Jews. Do you agree with this outrageous moronic nonsense Grim ?

Anti-semetic? I don't know if I'd go that far, but he certainly hasn't shown much respect for our Israeli allies, and throughout his life he chose to associate and befriend some very influential people who were anything but friends to the Jewish people.

An example that nobody has mentioned as of yet, was Obama's friend, pastor of more than 20 years and self proclaimed spiritual mentor Jeremiah Wright. Wright's monthly magazine "The Trumpeter", gave the "Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr. Trumpeter Award" for 2007, to a man it said “truly epitomized greatness.” That man was America's leading anti-Semite, Louis Farrakhan. So there is ample evidence to suspect Obama may harbor anti-Jewish sentiments, but I wouldn't go so far as to flat out say he's anti-Semitic.

As for the part about him wanting Iran to exterminate the Jews, that's just ridiculous. Who made such a claim anyway?

Now that I have addressed your questions, and done so in a respectful and civil manner, do you think you could tell me what the Palestinians did immediately after Israel pulled out of Gaza in 2005?

What evidence do you have of Iran being behind the coup in Yemen?

Heya Mr.I. :2wave: Arming and training the Houthi is good enough isn't it?

What role is Iran playing?

Saudi Arabia and other Sunni states have accused the Houthis of being a proxy for Iran, the region's Shiite superpower. The Houthis themselves deny this. Some outside sources have also suggested a link, however. Last year, Reuters spoke to officials from Saudi Arabia, Yemen and Iran who all claimed that Tehran had supplied money, weapons and training to the Houthis.....snip~

Congress appropriates funds, NOT the President....You should know that. But $3 billion is a drop in the bucket, it should be more.

So, let's get this straight...

GOP supporters get pissed when the U.S. government spends any amount of money on foreign aid, but it's perfectly okay to spend billions on Israel's national defense?

I'm as Christian as the next guy and I'm very much away of Israel's past abilities to defend itself against terrorist extremism, but come on!! You guys really have to stop being two-faced about spending issues, national sovereignty and self-reliance.

It does seem highly inappropriate for a foreign leader to be bypassing the executive to address Congress. It smacks of political meddling that shouldn't be tolerated. That being said I'm not sure what recourse the President has. His administration is on the way out the door despite protestations to the contrary and it looks as though Mr. Netanyahu will win his re-election. Combine that with high latent support in the US and you aren't left with many moves that can be long lasting.

First off, I certainly call foul on Spkr Boehner. Here he is insisting on transparency from the WH demanding that all WH visits be made public AND that the President should come to Congress on national security and foreign trade issues and the like, and here he goes behind the President's back inviting Bibi to speak before Congress - again.

It's very clear this was yet another jab at the President while also attempting to give Bibi some political cover/gains ahead of Israel's elections, as well as generate more support from Jews right here at home for the GOP.

All I have to say is pot meet kettle...and this time the pot ain't black.

That sounds like a baseless accusation. Did you hear that liberals like unnamed sources from an unnamed source? LOL I think you meant to say hacks trust unnamed sources when it supports their position, and they don't trust unnamed sources when they don't support their position.

It's possible this is all true... I'll wait to hear it from more media sources though.

You didn't know that? The GOP are as big of spenders than anyone else, they just want to spend it on **** they want to spend it on. Everyone else is mooching.

bibi has the election won

unless he does something really stupid, like provoking Obama into withholding the Palestinian statehood veto at the UN

If Bibi has the election won, why is he traveling here to the US? Why is he talking to the House?

I'm thinking that there's something else afoot here, not immediately apparent to the public.

It's only clear to partisans like you so why don't you elaborate on what Obama has done in his policy towards Israel that was not the policy of previous (and Republican) administrations. If it pertains to the Iranian negotiations, what is hostile to Israel about preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons?
Ask yourself why has the opinion of Obama taken a huge dive in Israel? As of last year over 70% of Israeli's had an unfavorable opinion of Obama and his administration. They distrust him and do not think he has their best interest at heart.

Obama approval ratings dive in Israel on Iran and Peace Talks
If you think for one minute that Iran is going to give up its pursuance of nuclear abilities, I have a ball of dryer lint I would like to sell you.
When a government (US) unfreezes almost 12 billion dollars in assets to Iran, a country that funds several terrorist organizations whose purpose in life is to attack Israel, is a good place to start. Then add to that Kerry's peace talks between the Palestinians and Israel. That was the cherry on the sundae that made Israeli's realize Obama could not be trusted.
Israeli minister attacks Kerry over boycott warnings | Reuters
Now that there is a majority in Congress that have been against the actions this administration has engaged with Iran coupled with some strong support of Democrats who are also at odds with the president's policies, one can only hope that they can be stopped with a super majority. Obama seems a bit concerned. He has P.M. Cameron lobbying the senators on his behalf.
You know these days I find myself holding my breath every time Kerry is sent to represent our country somewhere in the world. "What f-ed up mess will be next?" I ask myself. There are real consequences for elections and baby are we ever feeling them. I look forward to Netanyahu's speech to the joint Congress. I'm sure it will be a show stopper and I pray it will be enough to bring about a solid bi-partisan super majority to stop Obama.

I see from this thread that nothing has changed. Too many RWers who can't tell the difference between disagreeing with Netanyahu and anti-semitism.

Five high level generals of AQ eh? You shovel the same steaming pile that MMC does .

Yeah, cuz they was all taxi drivers, and farmers....We know....

OK. Bibi's fishing for limelight to better his election chances. Is this a policy that spans administrations? Or is this a policy that just this administration has adopted.

This has no impact on how foolishness and stupid looking is it to make the decision to interview with the bathtub girl.

Why do you ask such a silly question? Didn't you read what you quoted?

Thanks for admitting that Obama has done nothing to indicate he is anti-Israel. He might have some disagreements with the Prime minister like every President before him.
Why is Netty the "visionist" about Iran's nuclear program and their intentions? Since when does he determine who we can negotiate with?

Money to help Israel DEFEND itself is morally, the right thing to do. They are completely surrounded by people who if they had their way, would wipe the Jewish people off the face of the earth. Comparing that to opposing aid to countries that are not our allies, that engage in state sponsored terrorism, that mistreat women and minorities, and wouldn't shed it tear if America was nuked off the planet, is an apples to oranges comparison at best.

In this post that I have quoted, and that the OP j-mac has 'liked', 11Bravo states that Obama is ready to let Iran exterminate the jews.

I'm not kidding folks--we now have posters like 11Bravo and j-mac that believe that the POTUS is ready to let Iran exterminate the jews.

This is not the 'godwin' card--these comments are directly accusing Obama of being Hitler.

How much lower can it get on Debate Politics than to have posters accuse the POTUS of wanting to exterminate jews ?

This playing Muslims against Jews (and claiming that the President is doing nothing to defend Christians in territories held by Muslim extremists) feeds right into the "Pres. Obama is a closet Muslim" rhetoric. Only idiots believe such non-sense and, furthermore, believe that the U.S. government (Obama Administration) alone can stop Muslim extremism. It's a dual play on both your religious morality and your irrational fears.

DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE!

They are annual appropriations, so they go through Congress every year. The agreement made between Bush and Olmert was for FY 2009-2018, so Obama was already President before Congress approved the first installment. Because it is eventually funded as part of a multibillion or trillion dollar spending bill, there's no real way to see if an individual Senator agrees with the funding by looking at their vote.

His name is Netanyahu not "Netty". Our own history dealing with Iran should be enough for every American to discern this is a country you can not trust. JeeeeezUS, just a few months back, do you not remember the words of the President of Iran, Amineedsastraightjacket, calling for the destruction of Israel and the U.S.? My goodness what short term memories we have.

Netanyahu is a pig and a war criminal, IMO (and you Neo-con/anti-Palestinians who disagree? Save it as I could care less what you people think about this subject).

Although Obama has been disappointing in his dealing's with Israel...compared to GWB, he has been very refreshing (Bush did almost anything Israel wanted).

As mod warnings go, I'll make this one pretty clear. If you decide to talk about and insult other posters instead of discussing the OP, you will be thread banned at the very least.

Every day that goes by and Obama's anti-semitism shows more and more.

But, but, playing the race card is off limits to the liberals. Got a little bit of double standard there do we?

The fact is that Israel could Nuke anyone of those country's of the face of the Earth.
