(Reuters) - A prominent Saudi Arabian cleric has whipped up controversy by issuing a religious ruling forbidding the building of snowmen, described them as anti-Islamic.

Asked on a religious website if it was permissible for fathers to build snowmen for their children after a snowstorm in the country's north, Sheikh Mohammed Saleh al-Munajjid replied: "It is not permitted to make a statue out of snow, even by way of play and fun."

Can you confirm to me that particular cleric is a "moderate" or just another lone crazy kook. Many people might call Pat Robertson a prominent minister but most probably don't agree with this: Pat Robertson says divorcing a spouse with Alzheimer’s is OK - Believe It or Not

Clerics and Imams don't exist in a vacuum they are representative of a community. They now issue religious rulings over every facet of life. The fact is, this isn't the only seemingly crazy (by western standards) ruling they have made.

This is the group we are told we need to appeal to to stop radical islam. :doh
 
Saudis all have big noses due to inbreeding. They all look like a bunch of Gandalfs.


I actually had a few Saudi friends in college who were essentially just the #20+ offspring of their fathers many wives.. I actually think Saudi's population is largely just a bunch of extra offspring of the same few dozen families over the centuries. They all have this distinct look that is totally unique and unfortunately for them also totally obvious that they're all probably related somehow in recent family history.


You might think this drawing is a distortion of their noses.. It actually is extremely accurate. They all look like this to the T.
