Well looks like Mike Huckabee wants to get some points by slamming Obama and Beyonce. Interesting indeed. Will it work? :lamo

Mike Huckabee slams Obama for letting daughters listen to Beyonce

Mike Huckabee's got a problem with the Obamas’ parenting.

The former Arkansas governor and possible Republican candidate in 2016 ripped the President and First Lady on Tuesday for allowing their teen daughters to be crazy in love with Beyoncé.

And in his new book, Huckabee accuses the singer’s husband, Jay Z, of “crossing the line from husband to pimp by exploiting his wife as a sex object.”

He slammed the first family's fondness for the Grammy-award winning goddess, claiming the singer "has sort of a regular key to the door,” in comments Tuesday to People magazine.

Huckabee said he's baffled that Michelle Obama’s fierce protection of Malia, 16, and Sasha, 13, doesn’t extend to their musical choices.

“I don't understand how on one hand they can be such doting parents and so careful about the intake of everything — how much broccoli they eat and where they go to school and making sure they're kind of sheltered and shielded from so many things — and yet they don't see anything that might not be suitable for either a preteen or a teen in some of the lyrical content and choreography of Beyonce,” Huckabee told People magazine.

I'm not familiar with any of Beyoncé's songs except "Put a Ring On It." Are her lyrics and/or performances objectionable in some way?

Apparently Mick Huckabee thinks so.

Nope unless you think dancing and singing is objectionable.. which Huckabee and most religious types do.

"I'm a rich, white, male republican/conservative who's also old and completely irrelevant these days, so how can I further prove how pathetic I really am? Oh wait, I know, I'll pick on popular music and relate it to morals and religion and stuff."

PMRC anyone?

Well, this campaign didn't go 15 minutes before he decided to attacks the kids.

It is funny that he make a comment about the Obama girls eating broccoli while in his family it is doubtful they ever saw a stalk of broccoli on their plates.

Well they do look a bit hefty there! :lamo

Seriously tho, they appear to be healthy and happy. That is a good thing.

However, I don't think he made a good political move in attacking Beyonce in this way.

Mmmmm social conservatism, I can feel the 50's coming roaring back.

It'd a different world now Huck, nobody is going to elect you president on this crap.

I wish I could. I'm afraid the '50's are gone forever.

Mike Huckabee is an idiot when it comes to music of today. He seems to live in the past, an archaic remnant of the "angry old man" generation that used to shout at their own children for listening to long haired hippies like the beegees and John Travolta with their sexual movements and deplorable song lyrics.

Maybe he has an issue with a power couple like Beyonce and Jay-Z, who are successful in music, sports, love and family. Instead of celebrating their status of married couple with children, both parents working and successful business people, Huckabee envokes the ancient art of being totally out of touch with reality.

That's interesting. I did not expect the response to be this overwhelming. Goes to show you what I know.

The documentary "Footloose" sheds some light.:lamo

Apparently Huckabee isn't the only one who has a problem with Beyoncé. A British newspaper, U.K. Metro, published this after Beyoncé's Grammy Awards performance.

I guess it would depend upon what that 'lyrical content' of Beyoncé is. I don't remember the artist or the song, but my 16 year old daughter and I were driving around and she was singing along to one of her iTunes songs. And she sang one part that was pretty over the top. I remember asking her "what did you just say?" She laughed and repeated it and I remember being surprised by the lyrics. I didn't keep her from listening to it, but I can see how some parents might.

I think it's a rather benign thing to get upset about. Even more so that he's got no clue what songs or things of Beyonce they may allow them to listen to or not. I'd say her current album may be a bit more explicitely racy in some ways (Girl's got a blowjob fixation this album it seems), but it's not like it's an issue of every track let alone an issue of her entire catalogue.

I understand his point to a bit....that if you're going to try and "protect" and "shelter" your kids from things in all kinds of fashions, why not with music as well. The problem with his logic however is that he's going by an assumption that the lyrics and ideas in Beyonce's music is something they feel a teen should be "protected" from.

Perhaps Michelle just enjoys drinking some watermelon as well...;)

Huckabee is not that sharp.. He should talk about issues not about Obama's girls or Beyoncé.

Back when sex was safe and motorcycles were dangerous. ;)

LOL. Actually motorcycles were dangerous back then also. I'm lucky I didn't kill myself on my Norton.

Now we have AIDS (more dangerous sex) and anti-lock brakes (less dangerous motorcycles). ;)
