Dish Drops Two Fox Channels

Dish Drops Two Fox Channels - WSJ

Not "breaking" news per se, but I have noticed Fox is now currently running commercials with Bill O'Reilly here (Seattle) claiming DTV is censoring what viewers are seeing. A total lie. Typical Fox Noise.
Heads up: This article requires a subscription in order to view. Unless we are WSJ subscribers we can't even see what it says about so called censoring. Do you have another link that speaks to this? Thanks.

And this has what to do with Fox? Oh wait, NOTHING.

You're the one railing against the lack of journalistic integrity. I'm betting you believe that Bush was AWOL from the TANG. Do you?

i'd like for comcast to lose fox, msnbc, and espn. i have no use for any of those channels. at the very least, give me the option to stop buying them.

I have no respect for any provider that does not offer all of the well known 24 hour cable news channels. I have no use for MSNBC, or CNN, however I would not want them censored. The only network that all US providers should drop is that terrorist network known as Al Jazeera.

I still have to log in to get the live feed.
Good point. I have "basic" (low def) access for free via the building I live in. Which is still recognized as a cable account for billing purposes. But I'd probably be screwed otherwise. Some of the big 3 nets on ROKU run the same way, for example Fox. Not the news channel but the mainstream entertainment channel. I can choose to watch "Gotham" (they are pushing it HARD) on Fox via my ROKU box. The rest of their programming requires me to "log in" if I want to watch it. I just never wanted to because I get all of that from my Hulu account, which I watch on ROKU too.

The subject is Fox. Stop trying to derail the thread.

This isn't censorship, it's negotiations. No more, no less.

You claim FNC lies and insist on journalistic integrity. Since you're all about journalistic integrity, you must be just as outraged at a news org outright lying about the president and using faked documents to support the story. Yes?

So you have no problem with a supposedly credible News Network lying their ass off? So integrity be damned?

Have the regular programs reported on it or is it just the pundit anchors? The pundits are allowed to bellyache as much as they want, to the benefit of the station, without really losing much.

Truth be told, the Fox News viewership are some of the most loyal TV viewers out there. I don't see how they will think it is anything less than actions from Dish that lead to this. The Fox News viewers may incorrectly perceive this as an attack on their ideological viewpoint, but in terms of contract negotiations, I would think this only plays in the favor of Fox News.

The customer has more identification with Fox News than it does with Dish, regardless. As completely sad as that is, they picked the wrong channel to duke it out with.

It's not a claim. It's a fact. The dispute with DTV is over money. Fox is lying saying it's about censorship. But hey, I'm not at all shocked you're easily fooled.

I'm not at all defending Dish. I couldn't care less. And frankly I think they are stupid for taking Fox on.

That said, the Fox commercials are total bull****.

Well, none of that really matters in the end. Fox News viewers hold their station with as much reverence as an evangelist minister.

Fox is getting greedy. They are trying to pull an ESPN move and jack up their rates to the carriers and Dish ain't having it apparently.

No, you may not have a la carte, you must pay for what they give you.
Even those 49 music, religion and cartoon channels you'll never watch.

You just get more...or, less.

All networks lie. This isn't exactly a gigantic lie and it certainly isn't an important one. What is it you want me to do....go on a rampage about it? And why is it important?

No one cares. no one subscribes to DISH any how.

I have Dish at my cabin.

The message you get when you tune to channel 205(formerly Fox News) is... "Fox has removed this channel". So, yes, there is a pissing match going on.

It's been over a month - and my husband decided to cancel our contract and go with another provider.

He doesn't care who decided what - two companies who negotiate contracts on a routine basis did not come to an agreement and thus the customers who favored said programming no longer get said programming. That's actually the bottom line and the main issue.

However much I get irked with FN - I loath their decision to put everyone in the middle just as much. Whoever - whatever - the customer is the odd man out and apparently even though we're the ones paying a chunk each month anyway - and ultimately that means my husband's walking.

What I expected: an offer to reduce rates or compensate by swapping out our package for another one - but as far as my husband is concerned that type of thing doesn't matter.

Cracks me up. I'll really enjoy it when people jump ship from cable and start streaming everything, and the ILECs throttle Fox News' videos to users unless they and the users pony up. We'll see how Fox News feels about NN then.
