Start em off in an inner city, with a uneducated single parent and ****ty schools and see how they fare. And they might not stay poor, but they'd also probably never be rich again.

Re: Most of America’s rich think the poor have it easy

learning "how" to make money is far more important than the money itself

most millionaires can go broke tomorrow, and would rebuild their empire in time because they know what works, and what doesnt

Start em off in an inner city, with a uneducated single parent and ****ty schools and see how they fare. ...if this was their fate at birth, some would climb out....some wouldnt. Attitude plays such a huge role in how we deal with the adversities of life. If i was a betting man, i would say 20-30% would eventually be very successful......20-30% would end up in abject poverty.......and the rest fall someone in between

self made millionaires are risk takers.....mostly they bet on themselves

Have you considered the social, health costs of poverty? yes....i volunteer at a shelter and see poverty on a weekly basis.....but there is no social utopia......life isnt fair.....and never will be exactly fair

Homelessness, costs more than the solutions. Yes I know some will always be shoeless, as well as some will always be poor. exactly......the have nots

The tax system favors those with money. every system favors those with money.......remember the golden rule.......he who has the gold, makes the rules

As a libertarian I don't support a progressive tax system at all.

As some have pointed out, $500 to someone making 10k a year is alot more to that person than someone making $158k and giving $3k...

    Conversely.

A flat tax non-essential consumption would be fair across the board and affect each person the same.

I agree with this. I have yet to hear a more reasonable and fair system of taxation than one based on a flat sales tax on ALL purchases of goods or services that are (a) not financial instruments or (b) essential necessities like primary shelter, food and non-luxury clothing items. The more you CONSUME over and above basic necessities.

Most of America's richest think poor people have it easy in this country, according to a new report released by the Pew Research Center. The center surveyed a nationally representative group of people this past fall, and found that the majority of the country's most financially secure citizens (54 percent at the very top, and 57 percent just below) believe the "poor have it easy because they can get government benefits without doing anything in return." America's least financially secure, meanwhile, vehemently disagree — nearly 70 percent say the poor have hard lives because the benefits "don't go far enough." Nationally, the population is almost evenly split.

    Hmmm, what's the percentage? 53?

    That would leave 47%,

Everyone is given challenges in life, some more than others.

"with an uneducated single parent", what, your supporting my idea to take the kids away from these idiots and placing them in a home or group home which gives them discipline and nurturing?

****ty schools are the result of the attitudes of the residents, parents and the students. Try acting like civilized people instead of liberals and maybe they could get decent teachers and their facilities wouldn't look like run down gang graffiti walls.

What's so important about being so rich? It's just a power trip with too much emphasis on money making. T me it seems there are many vocations in society, artisans, mechanics, welders, hvac technicians, sports players, but for some reason people think that those who merely know how to make money are so great, when in fact they are merely opportunists who know how to buy cheap and sell expensive. Only a few nations Can even afford to have a real capitalist lifestyle. Places like USA and Europe are dependent on exploitative labor practices in other lands that are illegal in the USA and Europe. The world can only afford to have a few successful capitalist nations. The rest literally have to be in poverty to support the few.

    Its all bull ****.

Purposely divisive leftist perpetuatjions to push an agenda built on envy, and the false narrative of " disparity ".

All because they have absolutely nothing substantial to run on. Their policies can't stand on their own merits so they invent these class struggles.

Trying to rope in the useful idiots who actually think Government should be the final arbiter of whats " fair " and " equitable ".
They are trying to create election issues here, dividing one group of Americans against another. It will probably work.

Didn't you notice that this is not poor people saying rich people think they have it easy, it is other people saying that in place of the poor people.
