Update: They're reporting the police stormed both locations simultaneously and all the hostages are dead along with the gunmen.

STANDOFF IN DAMMARTIN-EN-GOELE

Two intense standoffs with gunmen are underway in and around Paris early Friday afternoon -- one involving the two brothers wanted in the Charlie Hebdo massacre and the other a hostage situation at a kosher grocery store.

One person is being held hostage in Dammartin-en-Goele, where the Kouachi brothers -- the suspects in the massacre at the offices of Charlie Hebdo -- are thought to be surrounded, France Info radio reported, citing the French Interior Ministry.

• The gunmen are surrounded, French authorities said. Yves Albarello, who is in France's parliament, said on French channel iTele that the two suspects told police by phone that they wanted to die as martyrs.

GROCERY STORE HOSTAGE SITUATION

• Dozens of schools were placed under lockdown because of the hostage situation in eastern Paris, police said.

• At least one man -- suspected to be Amedy Coulibaly, 32, one of two people wanted in Thursday's deadly shooting of a policewoman south of Paris -- is thought to be holding six people in the kosher store near Porte de Vincennes in eastern Paris, police union spokesman Romain Fabiano told CNN affiliate BFMTV.

Right now the reports are very fluid. What is known is that both locations have been stormed. What is not known is the fate of the hostages. In fact, the BBC's live updates state:

"Several hostages at the supermarket in Paris have been freed, according to AFP."

We'll need more time to learn the facts, including the fate of he hostages. Hopefully, the hostages are all right.
 
Just reported, all terrorists dead. 3 of them I think.

I guess these 2 incidents are over.

Yeah they keep reporting different things, I can't edit my OP now, too late. I'm assuming knowing the history and types of individuals the police decided the best course of action was to try and get the jump on them and try to save at least some of the hostages knowing these guys are leaving dead no matter what. It'd probably be better to do that than wait for them to simply kill the hostages and themselves when they get tired of the situation.

Initial reports usually have the highest risk of being incorrect. The good news is that pictures of emerging hostages are now available, so at least some (and hopefully, all) hostages are all right.

At the current time, it looks like all the hostages are all right. I hope that information is confirmed. I suspect the hostility that the French have against the Mulsim population will increase dramatically.

Yes. I keep hearing that there were at least four.

Nevertheless, it looks, preliminarily, as if the swat teams did a brilliant job.
 
Latest on France 24 6.15pm Paris time: all three terrorists the Kouachi brothers and Amedy Coulibali are dead, one accomplice (the girlfriend of Coulibali) fled the scene before special forces arrived at the Jewish grocery store, 5 hostages are dead and 4 are gravely wounded.

Update: the 4 wounded are cops.

Such fluid reporting. Just turned off Fox about 20 minutes ago with report that hostages were okay at both locations. Sorry to hear this. It will effect every future hostage operation.

Yeah, the very first reports were that the bad guys were dead and everyone else was safe. My cheers were shortlived...

Watching it live the first reports were that everyone in the market were killed. Then they stopped reporting about the hostages and simply said the gunmen were dead. Then there were reports elsewhere all the hostages were freed. Now we're back to most or all are dead at the market and the one survived at the other location???

That guy thinks initial reports are the MOST accurate.....as long as they coincide with his worldview.
 
Hope the last suspect is found before she can cause even more damage to humanity.

Weird. I've been watching France 24 all afternoon and at no time did they report that all the hostages were dead. First they were all safe, then there were some wounded. Now it's still at 5 dead hostages and 4 wounded cops. And yes, the one hostage at the other location is safe and sound.

Huh, that's what I was watching. The female reporter said in a somber tone "reports from the police chief (or some high ranking official I forget exactly what they said) that all 6 hostages in the market were killed" and they also had it in writing spinning across the screen. I only noticed it for a few minutes and then they stopped reporting that and only said the gunmen were dead.

Perhaps I happened to just view it at the right moment and you looked away for a bit.
