BBC News - Russia says drivers must not have 'sex disorders'

Russia has listed transsexual and transgender people among those who will no longer qualify for driving licences.

Fetishism, exhibitionism and voyeurism are also included as "mental disorders" now barring people from driving.

The government says it is tightening medical controls for drivers because Russia has too many road accidents.

"Pathological" gambling and compulsive stealing are also on the list. Russian psychiatrists and human rights lawyers have condemned the move.

What a ridiculously backwards move, I'm not really sure how they're going to enforce it either, not that I expect anything better coming from Russia...

The "president" is Putin. What do you expect?

Anything that man can think of = stupid

Does that mean that a man could be shot by a firing squad if he can't get it up while driving?

Putin is doing these folks a favor. Have you seen those Russian dash cams? This will save all their lives.

The Putin regime is aligning with conservative religion and passing secular laws to enforce the Russian Orthodox religious views on sex orientation.

People who believe this is anything new for Russia and signals a "change" of any sort REALLY don't understand Russian history or culture. Russia has archives and modern libraries which show how everything is codified law. That they've now related sexuality with driving is nothing out of the ordinary. They're not turning into an authoritarian state. They always have been. Whether that authoritarian state endorses bolshevism, capitalism, communism, socialism, etc is irrelevant. Russians simply need to codify these things into law because not doing so is a sign of lawlessness. Lawlessness is the Russian mindset leads to anarchy and anarchy means that the existence of the Russian people is threatened. I'm not saying it is right, but this is nothing new for Russia.
