Florida sisters, aged 11 and 15, charged with murder - NY Daily News
It's not often I jump straight to "total parenting failure" but in this case I do. The poor kid who was shot, and the poor sisters who killed him. Parents cannot leave four kids at home alone for several days or longer, especially with kids under 16 in the house. There are other parenting failures in the article. Two sisters in northern Florida, aged 11 and 15, are behind bars and charged with murder for allegedly killing their older brother. The parents, who left them home alone with their 3-year-old sister, have been arrested and accused of child neglect.
Keith Kornegay, 37, and Misty Kornegay, 33, were out of town when the shooting occurred. The father is a truck driver and the mother had accompanied him on a route, police said. They were arrested and charged with child neglect causing great bodily harm. Their bail was set at $20,000 each Wednesday and both were ordered to have no contact with their children.
Locally, a teenager killed herself. She was "home schooled" - her parents worked for weeks at a time in other parts of the state and left her home with no transportation to take care of herself. She didn't have indoor plumbing. I think she did have electricity, but not even sure on that.
That poor girl. And these poor children.
