Or at least aren't prepared to.

A firearm in bed is ALWAYS a BAD idea.

I do not own guns, I respect the rights of those who do. I do not own them because of the various stories I hear about accidental discharge.
I mean about regarding the gun, not the bedroom play

Maybe they were doing some sort of kinky sex bondage act with it in bed.

Darned if I know. But I imagine there are people that do that! But pure speculation in this case. I have no idea what he was doing with the gun, the bed and his wife.

The toddler had no training in proper handling of firearms.

One would think that a Police Chief would have had such training.

Where was she shot? Is that known?

My guess? He may have had the gun between the mattress and box spring. That's where I keep one, but I don't take it out and screw around with it. It stays there, so that I always know where it is. God only knows what he was doing with it, or what would be the purpose of moving it, but one of the problems with guns is that some people get sloppy and careless when they are too familiar with them. I always maintain a healthy respect for the damage that they can do.

Who the **** keeps a gun in the bed?
He touched her over her bra and underpants, she says, and guided her hand to touch him over his underwear

It becomes the business of the police when you shoot your wife....
