Mario Cuomo, former New York governor, dead at 82 - NY Daily News

Ever-eloquent Mario Cuomo, a son of Queens who rode his rhetorical gifts to three terms as New York governor and tantalized Democrats by flirting with a run for President, died Thursday, two sources close to the family said. He was 82.

Cuomo passed away six hours after his oldest son, Gov. Andrew Cuomo, was formally sworn-in to a second term in Manhattan. The elder Cuomo was too ill with a serious heart condition to attend.

Shame, he was an honest guy.

May former Governor Cuomo rest in peace. Whatever one's political persuasion, one cannot help but to have been impressed by his inspirational addresses and his deep sense of principle.

Can't say the apple fell close to that tree.

Hie Son has a History of NOT being honest but what do New Yorkers care ?

They gave him a Governorship.

So what, thread isn't about his son. Show a tiny bit of respect.

I'm so sorry to hear this. My condolences to his family and his friends. Such a shame. He made a difference.

I am sure he thought he was doing right but some of his comments were pretty crude. I think his main principle was power but I understand lots of New Yorkers loved the man. So yes RIP

May he rest in piece.

RIP from a lifelong New Yorker.
