Scalise Allegedly Spoke with White Supremacy Group [W:22, 100]

Re: Scalise Allegedly Spoke with White Supremacy Group

Scalise will most likely be President in the future. I know he wants it, his team wants it, and the Majority of the Republican Party adore him, hence his new title that emboldens that! As has become known since this story has broken out. Even if his term as Whip is damaged somehow, he will be back and he is just getting started. Although something tells me that there is a hard right sector out there that would love to see him gone. The Libertarian Wing think he is too boehner-like and they are afraid of him.

Though the points you bring up are of course interesting. Why can Obama hang out with radicals (no one assumes he is racist, besides for the few that know better) but Republicans cannot even talk to racial groups?? It's a good question the Republicans NEED to bring up when dealing with this story. Most of the well known political news cycle is on vacation right about now, most right wingers will come back on the airwaves in 2015, so they will knock it down.

You point out that it's the typical party politics attacking the upcoming potential candidates that pose a threat, much to their unfair destruction. It's also the same liberal / progressive / Democratic Obama and / or Democrats never done a wrong BS, where as the Republicans are always doing wrong crap.

Frankly, I'm just so sick and tired of the hypocritical inconsistent standards being applied whenever it's to the liberals / progressives / Democrat's political advantage. Why aren't the Republicans doing the same thing back at them? It'd only be fair, after all.

Republicans are easy to hate. Just look at what happened to Christie :'( At least this has a shred of proof. Bridgegate was all based on lies told by Dems to knock Christie out.

Re: Scalise Allegedly Spoke with White Supremacy Group

I question why he would agree to speak at organization he did not know for what they stand for. I question how could a person who is neighbor to a member of the group and known friend and associate of David Duke not know that the likelihood of this organization is racist is pretty high. I question how he could be friends with a neighbor that associates with racist groups and known racists without knowing that that person is a racist. I question his veracity when he states he did not know what the group was. I question his professionalism if he did not know what the group was. I question his judgement if he knew what the group was and spoke anyway. I question his fitness as a leader of our country if he either did not care that the group was racist or did not know the group was racist.

Do you have a link for the above statement. Nothing I have read mentions this.
In 2004 he slammed Duke.

Knight continued, “Now, at the time, I was a prominent person in state politics. I was on the radio, I was doing campaigns. Steve knew who I was, but I don’t think he held it against me. He knew I lived by his street and that I was active in our community. And I didn’t see a problem with having him speak.”

“Steve came in early on the first day of EURO, spoke for about 15 minutes, and he left,” Knight recalled. “He didn’t hear David speak remotely to the crowd.” Knight also said that he does not have video of Scalise’s remarks nor does he know if video of the speech exists.

The crowd there was a “mixed” audience for Scalise, mostly local, and partly “people who are concerned about the survival of their race,” he added. “The thing is, I don’t think Scalise knew anything about EURO, about that latter group.”

Knight said, repeatedly, he regrets being part of a political headache for Scalise more than a decade after he issued the invitation, and insisted that Scalise does not share his views on race.

You are implying many things, ask good questions but it appears they were all answered in the link? What am I missing here?

They are all not answered in the link. The neighbor of Scalise is known white supremacist that had direct connections to David Duke. From Knights own statements Scalise knew that. Why would he agree to speak at an event for an organization that he knew his white supremacist neighbor and compadre with David Duke belonged to? That question is not answered. How can Knight and Scalise make the statement that he did not know EURO to be a white supremacist organization when the person who asked him to come speak at the event (Knight) was a white supremacist and friend to the most notorious white supremacist in LA politics? That does not make sense. Why would he not hold being a white supremacist against Knight particularly being a conservative politician with aims at higher office? That does not make any sense to me either. Both him and Knight make the claim that he (Scalise) did not know this was a white supremacist group...really...if he didn't know he damn sure should have given the fact that the person who invited him to speak at the event is a known white supremacist and friends with the David Duke the most notorious white supremacist if not in LA then whole nation. Again that makes no sense and Scalise needs to us why we should believe that.

Re: Scalise Allegedly Spoke with White Supremacy Group

MMC maybe you should pay attention to the media bias threads. I've seen that reel the liberals use it to attack Fox News hosts as being dumb blondes and good looking idiots. So even those pleasing features hurts their eyes. I know it's a shock.

Yet, it's our side that is causing the "war on women." Most of the liberal platform is false outrage. Most of the conservative platform is trying to correct themselves so that liberals don't have false outrage. However, I do know that a big portion of the conservative platform is false outrage within outrage. Though, it's usually a lot smaller compared to what the liberals are doing.

Krauthammer called for Scalise to step down from leadership.
Red State's Erickson was even tougher on Scalise .

Valid points. Thank you for excellent points to consider.
Off to bed as I am working very early in the morning.
Happy New Year to you, your family and loved ones.

Re: Scalise Allegedly Spoke with White Supremacy Group

Seems to me that these two speeches were delivered to rather similarly extremist groups.

Seems to me that the politician's treatment should be about the same. Shouldn't it?

Obama didn't make a speech to a hate group. He attended a church that the right-wing wants to hate, but of course that, like all the other lies that the right-wing tells went no place as well.

Re: Scalise Allegedly Spoke with White Supremacy Group

Just reacting to the invocation of journalists' ethics. I've seen them lie on three continents.

Yeah; like Fox News does every day. You're not talking about credible journalism. You're talking about muckraking and Yellow Journalism. It's just exploitative.

Yup, a church with a preacher whose most famous quote is "God d*** America!"

The man was talking about the sick contradictions this country chooses to live with. So, please.

I don't care what he was talking about.

The lefts War on women was lost this last year.....let them try and re-invent it. In the end.....their way, of dividing everyone up. Will be their undoing. Might take 500 years. But they were doomed from their very start.

Re: Scalise Allegedly Spoke with White Supremacy Group

The rightists messaging war on America was won in 2014. The far-rightie war on women and other voting blocs that tilt DEM will continue this year unabated .

Holy cow!
Jack, have you heard the latest about Scalise?
He didn't do what they've said ... and he appears to have acknowledged for some reason ... crappy recollection perhaps?
It looks like another Rolling Stone-ish Jour-nail-ism eff-up ... the accurate story was uncovered by Slate, no less.
Happy New year.
