Pakistani officials furious over ‘Homeland’

Pakistani officials are furious with Showtime after watching the fourth season of its hit show “Homeland,” which they say portrays their country as an ugly, ignorant, terror-plagued “hellhole.”The diplomats took copious notes of every slight while binge-watching all 12 episodes — including the lack of greenery in the depiction of the nation’s capital, Islamabad.
They complained directly to producers of the Emmy-winning drama, but their gripes fell on deaf ears, Pakistani sources said.
“Maligning a country that has been a close partner and ally of the US . . . is a disservice not only to the security interests of the US but also to the people of the US,” Pakistan Embassy spokesman Nadeem Hotiana told The Post.

Ok, Pakistan is upset....But they do try and play both sides of the coin in this day and age...I don't see why they should be so surprised that many in the US think that their "ally" status is more lip service than actual help...

I think it IS an "ugly terror-plauged ignorant hellhole." Definitely not on my bucket list to visit!

Considering they jailed the doctor that helped us get Bin Laden I would also say they most certainly are lip service and if we didn't offer money they'd probably not do anything for us.

I haven't seen the US show. Pakistan has been going on a real offensive against the TTP Taliban since the Karachi airport bombings last year .

They do provide intelligence for US drones ( when the CIA couldn't get it) despite public protestations about drones to the contrary.

Pakistan has decided that allowing their ISI to cultivate the TTP Taliban, as a means to acquire hegemony over Afghanistan is a losing situation for both Afghanistan and Pakistan. The Peshawar school shooting is the "9-11"
as is said by many Pakistanis

The school shooting in Peshawar was their wake up call that the TTP Taliban cannot co-exist with their gov't.
So I take their protestations to heart, if a day late. The country has some really beautiful locals

Seriously, BO will clean this up with us ending the War Officially in Afghanistan there today. As he will want co-operation with the Taliban in Afghanistan. Who have stated they will still be going after our troops until all of them are pulled out.

Is this the same Pakistan that allowed Bin Laden to live in relative safety there for years? Why yes, it is. **** 'em.
