Walmart customers “unruly” after store closes, police called

    MIAMISBURG —
Police had to be called after customers of a Walmart in Miamisburg became unruly when the store closed.
Police from Miami Township were dispatched around 8 p.m. when several customers became upset and unruly when the Walmart in the 8800 block of Kingsridge Drive closed Wednesday for observance of Christmas Eve.
Initial reports say people were trying to enter the store by force before police arrived.

Ok, so here is the question...I have noticed that peoples actions over the past 40 years or so have become more and more self centered...For instance, when I was a kid, never would you have had people going to this length to attempt to keep a store open just for themselves...

So, how about it? Are we becoming more selfish? Is this lashing out like depicted in the story a result of people feeling like they are being too tightly controlled? What say you?
Americans are so enamored of equality that they would rather be equal in slavery than unequal in freedom.

This really doesn't surprise me today.

But I'm 71-years old and I never saw, or heard of anything like that happening when I was a child.

I am in my 60's and don't recall such rude behavior. I don't recall waiting overnight to get the first new cell phone, stores running 24/7 the week before Christmas.

imo, many have lost what Christmas is about and have fallen for the commercialization efforts.

Heck, my wife and I don't exchange presents any more. Have not for years. Its more important to just get family together.

Likewise. I'm 60 years old and have seen a general breakdown of society normal behavior.
I'm sure the reasons are more complex then just self centered "do what you want to do" -
but there aren't any social consequences to acting like a barbarian.

At one time people cared about a genteel (sic) behavior, but not anymore. we are rude and crude and revel in that hedionism

    Yea, that's pretty messed up.

I agree, this is what liberalism brings, an air of self-importance and entitlement that everyone owes you something and you have no responsibility to anyone but yourself.
There is nothing demonstrably true that religion can provide the world that cannot be achieved more rationally through entirely secular means.

    It depends on the neighborhood.

I live in a nice City south of Houston. Our local Wallmart made an announcement last night that it would be closing and everyone exited in a orderly fashion.
