A great loss of a great talent.

I have to say this one hits home. He's close to my age and I kind of feel I grew up with him.

    Ouch!

Isn't he even better known for "You are so Beautiful?"

Fun fact: John Belushi rose to fame with his imitation of Cocker in National Lampoons Lemming's stage show.

That sucks. He was a great singer, with a distinct style. My favorite of his though he plenty of good performances was Unchain My Heart.

I had the great good fortune of not only meeting Mr Cocker but playing bass for him while he sang.

It was at Manny's in NYC back in 1977. I was a 16 year old kid buying his first real bass guitar: a Rickenbacker 4001 - the same instrument Chris Squire of Yes, my idol at the time, played. Anyway I'm sitting there with the thing pretending I know what I'm doing when a voice says to me "Hey kid, we need a bassplayer for a couple of tunes wanna sit in." It was Joe who then put on an inpromptu 1 song set with me and two store employees as accompaniment. I have no idea how I got through the thing, or even what the song was - all I remember is it was a I-IV-V blues. Everyone had a ball: Joe, the store guys, the customers. I didn't. I was too damn scared to have fun. In retrospect the memory always makes me smile though. It was and remains the highlight of my musical non-career.

    RIP Joe Cocker.

I honestly figured he was 70 in the 70's.

Unique talent. Great gift. Sad to see him go but grateful for what he left behind.

Oh that's a shame. I hate to hear that.

He played a very small place quite near me about 28 years ago I guess it was, and I didn't go see him.

Well, thanks for the news anyway.

May he rest in peace. This is a big loss for the musical community.
