Besides the emails that we are discussing, also stolen were lots and lots of employee information (medical info, financial info, names, addresses, I guess Social Security numbers, etc.). Some employees have already filed a lawsuit against Sony over it, stating that Sony should have protected the information better, and that because they didn't, the employees will be faced with the threat of that information being released to the public or sold for the rest of their lives, or identities stolen.

Depending on who you ask, they'd swear Anonymous is just a government ploy.

I would not be surprised if this is a systematic failure due to problems originating in North Korea and that this is just being used by Kim-young-fat-one once again blame all his countries woes on America.

CNN interviewed Mike Chinoy, an expert on North Korea. In the interview, Chinoy stated:

And if the U.S. government actually took down North Korea's Internet, that has its own implications.

Because if the United States is officially engaging in cyberattacks then it implies North Korea can do it to us, and everybody else can do it to everybody else.

North Korea cyber conflict is 'uncharted territory' - CNN.com

    Three points:

    1. North Korea had already engaged in a state-sponsored cyber attack.
    2. Rather than creating a situation where other states would engage in such attacks, a U.S. response could begin to create deterrence that would limit the risk of such attacks in the future.
    3. Had the U.S. not responded, especially in the face of Sony's complete capitulation to North Korea's maximum demands, would-be cyber attackers (state and non-state actors) would conclude that they could attain big rewards with relative impunity. Hence, the risk of such attacks would become much higher.

Do you think we set something up with the Chinese? Do you think we could affect the N Koreans systems without the Chinese knowing?

Unlike the rest of NK's woes, the shutdown of the national internet access could actually have been the doing of the United States.

It could - however China who controls the in and out of NK's networks have had to be complicit in such an action, right?
I think if Thomas Jefferson were looking down, the author of the Bill of Rights, on whats being proposed here, hed agree with it. He would agree that the First Amendment cannot be absolute. - Chuck Schumer (D). Yet, Madison and Mason wrote the Bill of Rights, according to Sheila Jackson Lee, 400 years ago. Yup, it's a fact.

Probably. I'm not sure just how NK's internet connection works.
