BLOOMINGTON, Minn. - Approximately twelve people were arrested during a police brutality protest at Mall of America Saturday afternoon, according to mall officials.Hundreds of people gathered to demonstrate at the mall despite warnings that the facility is private property.
Official attendance figures weren't immediately available, but the group Black Lives Matter Minneapolis had more than 3,000 people confirm on their Facebook page that they would attend the event, billed as a peaceful gathering.

It should be reminded, however, that on this busy shopping season, store owners and consumers were trapped in the mall (and in stores) while the protesters staged their demonstration. Only after police warned the protesters that they would be arrested did they disperse.
Thankfully the demonstration only lasted under an hour (thanks to the quick response of the police), but the thoughtlessness of the protesters should be widely condemned by sensible American citizens. These are people trying to provide for their families and provide a meaningful Christmas. They aren't guilty of police brutality. They are regular, hard-working people who have been prevented from the freedom of movement and commerce because of the self-righteousness of a mob.
