Kim Jong-Un being immolated in slow motion, set to a soft cover of Katy Perry's "Firework" isn't exactly a forgettable scene. But it doesn't work — at least not in the way that comedy taking on a dictatorship is supposed to.

One way to deal with dictatorship through humor is to satirize it. Charlie Chaplin's Hitler is, of course, the gold standard here, but Team America: World Police's take on Kim's father, Kim Jong-Il, also works well. Team America's hyper-violent, petty, lonely Kim neatly exposes the same qualities in the North Korean regime.

The video began circulating on Monday after it was posted by Defamer, but it was removed. The scene reemerged on Thursday morning and quickly went viral.

Alright, so this hasn't been picked up by major news networks yet but it's been making the rounds on the internet. I'm going to ask the mods not to move this until I can find a link from more reputable source. I have no words on the scene, but I know there are people in Sony Japan's headquarters who are ****ting their collective selves right now and pulling every string possible to stop this from hitting YouTube/Vimeo/Youku/Tudou etc.

Saw this yesterday as it began to make the rounds. The movie, if they really do shelve it, will eventually leak. I have no real desire to comment on the scene or it's potential "humor", because taking a 30 second clip out of a hour and a half or longer comedy and trying to judge it based on that alone is kind of asinine. Seems like a stupid "death scene" for a comedy movie, but without actually seeing the movie and everything leading up to, and after, it...there's no real basis to comment on the comedic aspects of it being good or not.
