America Intelligence officials have concluded that the North Korean government was “centrally involved” in the recent attacks on Sony Pictures’s computers, a determination reached just as Sony on Wednesday canceled its release of the comedy, which is based on a plot to assassinate Kim Jong-un, the North Korean leader.....

Senior administration officials, who would not speak on the record about the intelligence findings, said the White House was still debating whether to publicly accuse North Korea of what amounts to a cyberterrorism campaign....

Much of North Korea’s hacking is done from China. And while the attack on Sony used some commonly available cybertools, one intelligence official said, “This was of a sophistication that a year ago we would have said was beyond the North’s capabilities.”

detailed article / China? North Korea? Insiders? all?

An act of war.

I wish they would have done this to Dumb and Dumber 2 instead.

There's 1 hour and 50 minutes of my life I'll never get back.

That movie totally sucked.

File this one under, "Duh. Who couldn't have figured that out?"

Well we certainly know it wasn't the Japanese trying to help out the Koreans ;)

at least qualifies as an attack. China does this all the time, but we don't call it a war.

A foreign power has attacked our constitution and threatened violence ipon American citizens. That's act of war.

The president took an oath to, "protect The Constitution from enemies, foreign and domestic". It's his duty to act.

How should he respond?

Compared to what the regime does to its own people this is really not so bad.

And....................... What should he do?

where do you see the attack on the constitution? I can see it in the POTUS oath ( all enemies foreign and domestic).
But what should be done, other then call it an attack? (its a cyberattack)

Today, it's a comedy flick. Tomorrow, they don't like who's running for office and threaten to attack polling places. Where do we draw the line?

In this case, a foreign power is violating the civil rights of American citizens. The United States government has a duty to protect those rights.

It's not his duty to declare war. Sony is just as culpable for the breach in their security as the hackers. They knew they were vulnerable and did nothing about it for years. YEARS!!!

sounds like a good enough reason to nuke the bastards. Gonna have to do it sooner or later

I thought it would turn out to be Warner Bros.

draw the line where it needs to be drawn.
I don't like it either, but this isn't new -doesn't China routinely hack into our R&D on weapons systems? This still a movie, not anything else

Has China donethis? I don't think so.

Its not just a movie; it's our civil rights.

Wow! Its Sony's fault that a foreign power is threatening to launch terrorist attacks against American citizens?

Well, sort of. This might not be happening at all if Sony had heeded the warnings from 2011 when they were first cyber hacked. North Korea has been cyber attacking US government and private interests for years. But then, so have the Chinese. This war is being fought in cyberspace not on the battlefield. It's a war between the geeks.
