Good grief, it's almost like you just make statements out of the blue. Hollywood was heavily anti-communist right up until the late 80s. Rocky? Rambo? Red Dawn? Red Scorpion? Red Scare? Invasion USA? I could go all day with movies produced in Hollywood that were anti-communist. Communists were depicted as "the bad guy" quite regularly. Terrorists even more-so. Die Hard? Back to the Future? I think what's laughable is that you believe that one of the country's richest area code wouldn't be anti-communist. The country's wealthy (don't get it confused with rich) do not have an interest in supporting communism whether in their movies or elsewhere.

What did you take in your 8 years of public university? It seems like your electives didn't actually include anything in history. You make ridiculous statements that are so devoid of historical accuracy that it's quite easy to debunk them. Hollywood stopped portraying "communists" as the bad guys around the same time USSR fell (on paper anyways). After that, its focus became "new age" villains. Hackers, arab terrorists, serial killers, etc. This is pretty well known to anybody who has taken a class on American culture. How is it possible you don't know this?

I see, a handful of action movies where commies are the bad guys means Hollywood isn't a bunch of leftists teeming with commies and other marxist fail. Brilliant.

And I only attended public universities for 4 of my 12 years.

That phrase by Sony is a lot of garbage and caved in to blackmail. Obviously, there must be lots of info that Sony must be so very frightened about that they would rather cave in to blackmail . But there is no guarantee that these hackers will not divulge more information.

If the executives at Sony had any brains they would put the movie on DVDs and sell them at a cut rate. Are they smart to do that?

A handful? There are literally hundreds of studied cases where "communists" are the bad guys in one way or another.

These are selected filmographies of the thousands of movies which have discussed/attacked communism in Hollywood. I actually welcome you to educate yourself on the topic and watch films Goodbye Lenin (Sony, 2003). It's a pretty hilarious attack on the absurdities of communism and is a sign of how "Hollywood" produced/distributed movies) still attack communism. How is it possible that after 8 years in school you wouldn't even have come across a book on this subject?

At this point it's getting ridiculous. What is going to be tragic for Sony is that a few years from now this will be seen by the entire industry as a major overreaction. You're going to see some more overreactions for a short time, but sooner or later they themselves will say "enough is enough" and not cave in any further. The pendulum will swing crazy for a while (unfortunately it has also claimed Steve Carrel's latest project), but it will correct itself.

Man, there's something about Sony and hacking of the past few years that just brings out the worst from their entire corporation. First lackluster protection of their gaming network, now we find out they had a folder called "passwords" in their movie studio! They just can't get it right.

Lets be clear here: its not Sony that gave in but the theatre owners have been refusing to put the movie up in their theatres so there wasnt much Sony could have done except go along with them.

    GTFO.
That is some extraordinary spin, I have to say. Kudos.

With a nod from Sony, first.

The decision followed an emergency meeting of the National Assn. of Theatre Owners, where Sony executives told theater owners that they would be free to drop "The Interview" from their holiday schedules without breaching their contractual agreements or jeopardizing future bookings of Sony films, according to people familiar with the meeting.

I don't think you know what that word means. I didn't spin anything. I stated that Hollywood has been anti-Hollywood more often than not. If you think otherwise, I welcome you to show the evidence. Maybe some movies where communists win?
