NEW YORK — Hillary Rodham Clinton said Tuesday she's proud to have been part of an administration that "banned illegal renditions and brutal interrogations" and said the U.S. should never be involved in torture anywhere in the world.

Clinton spoke about the importance of the nation acting in accordance with its values after receiving an award from The Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice & Human Rights at a gala in New York.

and this:

Clinton also addressed the recent protests that have raged across the country, and drew links between violence at home and abroad.

She declared, "yes, black lives matter," a mantra of demonstrators around the country who have been protesting recent grand jury decisions not to indict white police officers involved in the deaths of unarmed black men in Ferguson, Missouri, and in New York.

I love her originality!

She voted for the Iraq invasion and took money to sit on the board of that rotten WalMart which it appears virtually enslaves its employees, and she worked for the Administration that also droned almost 300 innocent children to death. I wonder why she didn't address them.

Hillary Clinton is the most ruthlessly ambitious politician of my lifetime, and she will tolerate or say whatever it takes, even at the expense of her own dignity. Too bad for her that she's on record as saying, "What difference does it make?"

She'll say anything. I'd correct her and say "all lives matter"; that particular pandering comment is a teachable moment for her. The hypocrisy of Democrats who are rabidly against what they call "torture" yet are not rabidly against assassination by drone, EVEN OF AMERICAN CITIZENS who do not get the benefit of a trial, is quite striking. That the media virtually ignores such hypocrisy - not surprising at all.

Drone attacks on children...what does it matter?

She'll do anything to pander for votes.

Yes, I think she will. Her only real interest, in my opinion, is the self-aggrandizing retention of power and influence.

What the hell does WalMart have to do with her statement.

She will say anything to appease whoever she is talking to on that particular day. She's probably already had her staff walk these back by now, like she did with her outrageous "you didn't build that" comment.

Not the biggest Hillary fan in the world, but she's absolutely right about torture. She'll actually win my vote if she makes any promises to reform our foreign policy to get rid of our drone strike program and closing Guantanamo Bay then I'll be sold. Till then, I'll just assume she's a politician playing politics.

She was on the board of WalMart for years, and from posts on this board, WalMart is the anti-human rights employer. She was getting an award for Justice & Human Rights.

People work for WalMart voluntarily, and in fact I'd be willing to bet they have a large backlog of job applicants. It should be obvious that they don't "enslave" anybody.

WalMart saves a lot of poor people a lot of money.

Two bad black lives seem to not matter much to young black men.

Someone should ask her if all lives matter.
