    Ukraine needs expanded IMF programme - economy minister

    'Dec 10 (Reuters) - Ukraine's new economy minister, Aivaras Abromavicius, said on Wednesday the government wanted the International Monetary Fund to expand its $17 billion bailout package due to Ukraine's worsened economic outlook.

    "We want to expand the programme given the difficult situation. Calculations are being made," Abromavicius said at a briefing, adding that it was too early to say how much extra cash would be needed.'

    All of this could probably have been avoided if the Ukrainian rebels (backed by the U.S.) had not illegally overthrown the corrupt - though legally elected - leader. All they had to do was wait several months for the next scheduled general election.

    Had they done this;

    - the Crimea would probably still be part of Ukraine
    - the Donetsk-area civil war would probably had not have started
    - thousands of people killed would probably still be alive (including those onboard flight MH17)
    - the economy probably would not have collapsed (at least not yet and so spectacularly)

    They should have let democracy do it's thing.

    The west wanted to prove it's might. Putin was attempting to back out of the dollar being the the currency of oil trade in October last year. So , speculation, it is likely the west used these tactics to try to bully Putin.

    Meanwhile, like you said, if there wasn't a coup to overthrow the corrupt ukranian leader this whole added mess could have possibly been avoided
