Lawmakers strike deal on $1T funding bill to avoid shutdown

e

Good for Boehner! He kept the right wing from shooting the party in the foot once again.

Yeah, that 2013 government shutdown totally screwed them in the midterms...

Stop putting in policy riders by Rep. Hensarling that gives away Main Street to Wall Street .

If you really don't like that stuff, then get your politicians to offer a deal...you know, compromise.

Good news! We adverted a shut down! The nutty tea party conservatives wont take us down that road again.

Thanks Democrats, you almost shut the government down. Jerks!

How does it feel for the Dems to be wearing that shoe now? The party of NO is who? The Democratic Party of course. You want examples of hypocrisy, here's another one of the Hypocratic Party.

BTW, black, Hispanics, women and children would have starved to death using leftwing politics.

It ain't just the Democrats shutting down the government. I have been watching C-SPAN today, and Boehner just postponed a vote on the spending bill because he can't get enough votes on board to pass it. The government may be shutting down, but if you want to be honest about it, you are going to have to admit that there are many more Republicans in the House than Democrats. Put 2 and 2 together, you can see that mainstream Republicans are unable to keep the Tea Party in line. This shutdown will be the fault of both parties. Unfortunately, since Republicans own the House, they are going to also own the shutdown if it happens.

Almost only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades.

Yeah it is, and typical of the hackery from your side.

I think your a little confused on what hackery is. Please reread your last sentence in post #54 then reread my response to that sentence...

You're missing the point. Last year the Dems were making false political hay about Republicans shutting down govt..................children would die blah blah blah. Just want them to see what it's like when the hackery is tossed in their hypocritical laps. The Party of NO, blah blah blah. They've been talking this bull**** up for years. Just wait till the new Congress, they'll probably go on steroids.

New Congress won't change things. Republicans already have the House, and so far they have been unable to pass the bill.

They did fumble the ball as evidence by their poll plummeting thereafter. They were just fortunate the dems gave them the ball back, which allowed them a nice kick with a stiff tail wind.

We'll see, but I blame Boehner for lots of what's wrong in the House.

I don't. Boehner is one of the majority of mainstream Republicans, and Boehner is doing the right thing here by making a compromise with the Democrats. He dropped some things Republicans wanted, and in return got the Democrats to drop some things they wanted. This bill doesn't make everyone on both sides happy, but it's still a win-win situation. However, Boehner is stuck between a rock and a hard place between Tea Partiers who would rather slash and burn than compromise, and Democrats who want revenge for Republicans in the Senate stalling just about every bill that came up. Democrats are about to replace Republicans as the party of NO, and the Tea Party is actually helping them do that.

NOTE: This bill is going to fail, but Boehner and Pelosi have come up with a short term spending bill that should fund the government into early next year, which will probably pass. Basically, they will be kicking the can down the road a little, then the crapstorm starts over again in a few weeks.

Yeah yeah, I know you hate the TP with every molecule of your being, because you love the big govt Republicans like Boehner. Whatever.

What I don't like is a small faction within one party who are more willing to slash and burn the country than to do their jobs. How does it make you feel that the Tea Party is on the same side as the Democrats in this debate?

They are doing their jobs, they're representing their constituents. Maybe Boehner should do his ****ing job. Maybe Reid should do his.

Boehner is also representing his constituents, who keep returning him to the House every two years. Of course, Boehner's constituents are not bat crap insane either.

In your opinion they aren't. The only reason the TP ever came into being is because the Reps have been acting like Dem-lites. People are sick of it, except you of course. I was tired of all the spending under Bush too.

Spending isn't necessarily a bad thing. Reagan presided over a mammoth increase in spending, but that spending resulted in the death of the Soviet Union.

The bill has passed the House 214-212, after 2 Tea Partiers defected.

Republicans put up these last-minute poison pill policy riders without negotiation.
Hard to negotiate on something yer not told about until the last minute.
And stay focused on this cromnibus, not past history .

If you really don't like that stuff, then get your politicians to offer a deal...you know, compromise.

TEApartiers used to be against bailing out Wall Street.
Why do they now support the end to regulations in Dodd-Frank that would bail out large banks ?

You mean poison pill policy riders inserted at the last minute by Republicans this week will shut down the government.
With the GOP shutting er down three times since July 2011.
Let's see if DEMs learn how to use this better than they did the October 2013 one in the messaging war they're still losing .

You're missing the point. Last year the Dems were making false political hay about Republicans shutting down govt
Dems weren't smart enough to make political hay after the GOP shutdown of October 2013 when they could have .
