Satanic Temple display approved for Florida Capitol

There's the difference. I'm not looking for God in science. He is science. Imagine the complexity of His formula.

Science will never explain the origination of the elements or the laws of physics that guide them. There is no possible scientific reasoning that would allow for the spontaneous existence of either.

Perhaps, perhaps not. Science is working on it. So be careful with that (what was the word you used?) arrogance you display be thinking you know what science is capable of.

I mean arrogance in the thought that any single person believes they can figure out the secrets of the world better than the billions of others past and present.

Scientific discovery, to me, is God's greatest miracle. I've never thought science and faith argue against each other. They support each other because it takes both to understand either.

Why would you make the assumption that there must be a higher power that is behind it. Because...if you do.....I get to ask......if there is a higher power, then it must have been created by a much higher power. Oh wait..you are going to pull out the old "god exists because he always existed, etc" baloney.

Who created god? Answer without using your cop-out.
You still don't get that Christmas is not just about God? Agnostics, atheists, and everyone in between, enjoy the Christmas season while you and others are trying to make this about scripture, or other side issues. Why not just accept Christmas for what it is and just enjoy yourself? Have you never celebrated during the Christmas season? Given a present to a friend or loved one? Wished someone a Merry Christmas?

It is a christian celebration, with roots in pagan celebration.

Putting up a manger, with Mary, Joseph, Jesus....how exactly is that NOT about god?

Logic dictates that it would take a Creator not made of carbon nor ruled by the laws of physics to create a universe of such, would it not?

Uh...no.

There is no supernatural.

Do you see them trying to put their displays in any area that doesn't have a Christian display?

As far as what you said about Christians, I'm not Christian.

Christians should take their display down so they don't get Satanic Temple cooties.

We are in a better place to answer these question then at other time in the history of humanity, it's quite appropriate to take the attitude I did

Quite honestly, I am willing to bet future generations will regard my attitude as quaint and I have no problem with it. They will have had the benefit of additional knowledge and truth due to more advanced science.

The Old Testament is very specific when it mentions holidays and significant events. The only holiday mentioned in the New Testament is the Lord's Day. The day of Christ's birth is not mentioned in the Bible or any of the Church's history.

That is the difference between science and religion. Science builds off the knowledge that has come before it, sometimes it disproves long held beliefs and hypothesis, and that is good, and that is welcomed because it leads to new discovery.

Religion.....if it was in this 2000 year old book, that settles it..now and forever, so stop thinking and discovering....or you will go to hell.

OT is very specific when it mentions not mixing fabrics, or being around a women on her period, or not cooking a goat in its mother's milk, or beating your wife or slaves. Which it is not a very good science text, or very useful in modern daily life.

That has nothing to do with what I said. My point was that there is no Christian holidays. What the hell are you talking about?

Just pointing out how silly the OT is...but if you believe, you need to follow it...

Do you believe in God? Do you believe that Jesus is the son of God? If not, what does it matter? And if others believe it, so what?

Why not lighten up a little and let other people enjoy themselves?

How are atheists being assholes when all they want is the same thing Christians want?
people celebrate Christmas all over the world and the message is "Peace, Love and Good Will towards man". What is the Festivus message?

They might have a legal right to do so, but that doesn't make it any less childish. Satanists are your trolls of the religious sphere.

And its awesome!

There are Jewish holidays. There are American holidays. There are no Christian holidays. Christmas is not a Christian holiday because Christianity has no holidays.

What does shrimp, polyester/cotton blends, anal sex, murder, Sabbath violations, stealing, committing adultery, hybrid grapes, slavery and animal sacrifices have to do with Christian holidays? Absolutely nothing. Are you trying to derail the discussion about something that you find more interesting than this thread?

I was responding to these comments:

Or maybe extreme athiests should stop being aholes. ;)

Some people hate freedom :usflag2: :memorial_ :2usflag: of religion. These terrorist prefer freedom of Christian religion only.

I still think the Christians should take their display down in order to avoid catching the Satanic cooties.

Whatever you want it to be. It's free-form.

beating your wife or slaves.

Question for me. What does the Bible say about beating your wife? I'm not familiar with these Old Testament passages.

Question for you. How does the Bible say that slaves should be treated? I am very familiar with these Old Testament passages. American slavery didn't follow the scriptural example. An American's concept of slavery is perverted by the American tradition of slavery rather than the Jewish tradition of slavery. You should read what the Old Testament says about slaves.
