Satanic Temple display approved for Florida Capitol

Don't allow yourself to be trolled, Jack. This thread was all about getting a reaction much like the satanic displays themselves. If they want to worship a pile of beer cans, let 'em.

Empty, or full?

I don't either but let's be real. This has nothing to do with religious freedom. It's about common decency which I seriously doubt you would find in a satanic cult.

Let them have their display but let me exercise my right to call bull**** on the notion that it's purpose is anything other than to poke a stick in the eye of Christianity.

Religious freedom.... LMAO.

Your faith must be really shaky and insecure if you can't handle other religions having their displays in a public space.

Religious freedom.....just as long as it is the religion you approve of.....LMAO

It's all pretty stupid but about what you can expect when you allow a Christian display in a government facility. Satanists? Hell, they don't even take themselves seriously but they're just another worm in the can- they didn't open it. Get rid of all expressions of religion and replace them with busts and statues of the founding fathers. It'll give the place a strict Roman or Soviet flavour and it'll be an unassailable position.

Hey, they have the same right to put their phony god up as the christians do, or the muslims, or the mormons or the jainists, or whoever.

How about......we take all of them down, and start celebrating reason and logic?

Your definition of " reason and logic " still cannot disprove the existence of a Creator.

Also, I've read a few of your post. Your far from reasonable and logic escapes you on a daily basis.

Maybe you're not the right poster to be lecturing others on reason.

I don't think Satanists, as in the actual members of the Church of Satan, are religious trolls. Members of the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster certainly are. Satanists certainly don't believe Satan is an actual existing entity, but they honor what he symbolically represents. I think it is more of a philosophy for them. I am certainly not a Satanist but having read the Bible, IMO, Satan certainly comes off as a more admirable figure than the God of Abraham.

What do you think? Has "religious freedom" gone too far?

Some people don't think it should happen -- Satanists Win the Right to Place ‘Grossly Offensive’ Holiday Display Next to the Nativity Inside Florida’s Capitol

Anybody want to bet that some "real Amurrican" will deface or damage the display?

The real BS here is that I would bet $1000 those Satanists aren't even real Satanists. They're athiests doing all that they can to stick it to religion. From their M.O. they seem to target Christians more than any other though.

What is a "real Satanist"? It isn't someone who believes in a real Satan. According to the Church of Satan:

To us, Satan is the symbol that best suits the nature of we who are carnal by birth—people who feel no battles raging between our thoughts and feelings, we who do not embrace the concept of a soul imprisoned in a body.

I guess only the beliefs you personally deem "correct" count.

You find a Nativity scene as offensive as a satanic offering?

Your life must really suck.

I said I find all religious displays to be offensive in a State setting. They have no place on Govt. property. Put them in your yards or churches. Isn't that enough places?

Correct, and in an oh-so tasteless way.

That was by design unlike those that built the Nativity who never worried if it offended anyone. It does. We have no State religion in Florida or anywhere else in the USA.

A real Satanist does believe in Satan. Hence, well..ya know...the name?!

Where did I say anything about being oppressed? OH right, I didn't. But please, go ahead with more strawmen. Shows that you have no real argument.

I have no problem with peoples beliefs. I do have a problem with people going out of their way to be offensive. One of the reasons that I am against organized religion. So yeah...your little barb there? Fell far short of its target. If you want it back feel free to bend down next to your feet and pick it back up. ;) Might be useful against someone else.

Is it that simple? All a person has got to say is, "It's against my religion, my religion of __________!" If it has to be a recognized religion, who recognized Satanism as a religion?

Apparently yes. Sometimes I think that we've moved out of the age of reason and moved into the age of b****ing.

Age of Bull**** 'cause Bitching falls under Bull****.

I don't want the government attacking or preventing my rights to religious expression, wouldn't want to wish that upon the satanists either.

I wouldn't have a problem with Satanists being treated like crap.

Sure he can/could. But you could have easily asked without using that worn out card to.

I'll try to explain it more simply. I posted a critical satirical comparison to his message, which his mis-spelling a word as a common liberal atheist bigotry attack at Christians as being illiterate.
