Protests in support of Eric Garner erupt in New York and elsewhere

Protests in support of Eric Garner erupt in New York and elsewhere - The Washington Post
It seems that black protests are covering the whole country. We see how every negative gesture towards the minority of color will exacerbate this conflict. While plans of our administration are not clear protesters are flooding the streets of the largest city in the country. Will Obama send his militarized police forces with newly bought body-cameras to the "Big Apple". It is worth to shoot a new blockbuster.

Re: "Michael Brown's virus" has already infected the NY city.

Well, in regards to Eric Garner, it seems like their PROTESTING (so long as it is protesting) is justified.

Michale Brown on the other hand was a moron who deserved to die for doing what he did. Any subsequent protesting/rioting was hardly justifiable.

I really like the NYC Mayor telling people "Anyone who believes in the values of this country should feel called to action right now. We are dealing with centuries of racism that has brought us to this day. That is how fundamental the crisis is."

He clearly doesn't understand that he just told people to protest against himself.

The Eric Garner case is far more clear cut and evident than that of the Michael Brown case and it's a travesty they didn't even bring the officer in for court. Unless Garner was being arrested, police should not be placing their hands on anybody let alone choke them out. The Officers involved should have been held accountable for what he had done. Especially more so that the entire incident was recorded and shared through the internet.

It's a political maneuver called "Getting out ahead" but that is really an aside, what happened in the incident is between the Police and the Justice system. Although I suppose if the Mayor is being honest his words would have more sway in reforming the system than others.

Not really. The Mayor may be the employer of these "racists" but rest assured that he won't be paying for their acts or even held accountable to fire them (many officers were involved in that selling "loose" cigarettes arrest). Watch who gets to pay the "victims" families gobs of cash in civil suits. This does not cost the government employees involved, or their unions, one extra dime but it does cost all of the NYC taxpayers to pay families of criminals that were "mistreated" by the Mayor's employees.

When you let a problem fester, the repercussions grow. We have been working on the issues of race and discrimination for decades and have obviously not accomplished enough. And sure, it is mostly a problem of the minority that does not take advantage of opportunity, it is certainly also a problem of our own. We are squandering huge resources of human capital and really cannot afford it. The fact that we are seeing revolt should drive that home to even the most xenophobic of us.

These protests/riots will go nowhere good for one reason: exploitation. Leftist groups (anarchists, communists, socialists, anti-capitalists, progressives) are exploiting the race card in order to bring about their type of change or revolution. The actual plight of Americans of color has no real meaning to them, it is just a tool and nothing more to reach a ends. The less radicals involved will deny that the radicals exists or at least try to convince us that those black blocs are just agitators ignore them. They'll go on and on about race inequalities and how awful America is for it. They are a bunch of haters themselves, they hate Americans and they hate capitalism above anything else. And this is just a opportunity (for leftists) to push blame on capitalism.

The point of their radicalism is to end the plight of people of color. Like that is at least in part their motivation behind being a radical be it a socialist, communist, etc
