Kennesaw City Council rejects mosque proposal

KENNESAW, Ga. -- There will be no mosque in Kennesaw. At least not right away. The Kennesaw City Council voted on Monday to reject the request of a group of Muslims seeking to establish a worship center in the city.

Anti-Islamic demonstrators outside of Kennesaw City Hall made it clear that they believe an Islamic worship center is not welcome in Kennesaw.

The local Islamic group wanting to rent the retail space for their worship center agreed to every limitation that the Kennesaw city attorney wanted to impose, including a two-year only lease, no more than 80 worshipers allowed at a time and no more than 40 parking spaces could be used at a time.

They agree to every legal restriction the city attorney could come up with but their application was still rejected.

I so love the way "government spends too much of our money!" types seem to be willing to spend lots of money fighting losing causes based on religious and social beliefs.

The demonstrators are hoping that the city will continue to fight the Muslims' efforts to hold worship services in Kennesaw.

As they have found in other countries, some of these mosques are nothing but breeding ground for terrorists.

If the people thought that was a possiblity, why let them in?

Which is exactly why Egypt should ban Christian churches. Christianity is a breeding ground for social degenerates. If the Egyptian people thought it was a possibility, why let those Christians in? **** religious freedom.

Because you need more than hysterics and an overactive imagination to legitimately infringe upon the rights of others.

Thank you for proving the point of the OP. "religious freedom for me but not for you guys"

Fine, let Egypt do that, that's up to them.

Breeding and recruiting terrorists is far from a religious freedom.

Sorry the usual crowd here doesn't comprehend the difference.

Do you have any proof that this mosque would be used for it?

Kennesaw Georgia is where the movie " Deliverance " was filmed.

Those Imams better not mess with those kind Hill folk.

And No Mosque means no future Isis wannabe's.

This is an infringement on religious freedom. I don't see a rational reason why their request should be denied given the information presented.

Well can you prove they are doing such? If so, you have a point. If not, you're just being paranoid and looking to use government force to enforce your delusions.

Because with the information on hand, there is no rational or logical reason to use the guns of government to prevent free exercise and expression of religion.

With that kind of anti-American sentiment, you don't deserve freedom of (and from) religion.

Keep pushing for that christian theocracy....

Seems wrong on the face of it. The only objection I can see as valid are the 5 daily calls to prayer.

Meanwhile, your religious freedom to suppress the rights of homosexuals must be protected.

Why is that valid, exactly?

You wouldn't want me to start comparing homosexuals to terrorists now would ya?

Other than trying my damnedest to prevent their co-opting of marriage, I haven't suppressed anything.

But if you even think about issuing a subpoena to a Christian church, you're attacking religious freedom!

If they broke the law, they're no different than the rest of us.

I only provided reasoning for not allowing a mosque. You figure out whether it was going to be one that recruited terrorists or not.

So you are okay with denying people the right to practice their religion in the United States of America?
