Kennesaw City Council rejects mosque proposal

This looks like a great way to drum up some extra cash for the cause of Muslims (and their lawyers):

The attorney for the Muslim group, Doug Dillard, said they may sue the city in federal court. He said that in similar fights across Metro Atlanta, he has reached out-of-court settlements after suing the local governments. The cases never went to trial; the two sides ultimately reached a compromise.

I never said that extremist Muslims do not preach hatred against Jews.Extremist Muslims preach hatred towards anyone who doesn't practice their brand of Islam.

My point was this if a city wants a lawsuit magnet violating federal civil rights laws is probably as good a one as any. But now that you mention it, it does seem a bit odd to be running around metro-Atlanta forcing settlements instead of seeking accommodation to build the thing. Certainly, while this might not be a ruse, I imagine it's lucrative for attorneys.

If we banned religious groups from building a church based on what their bible says then hardly anyone would have a church.

I used to like some of you posters who painted all Muslims with the same brush.I used to wonder why Muslims didn't speak out against terrorists, wanted to turn Mecca into a glass parking lot,complained that Muslims wanted to build a mosque near ground zero as though all Muslims were glad 911 happened,felt that TSA should strip search every Muslim boarding a plane and had no problem if their 1st amendment rights were restricted. But I realized that we shouldn't demonize a whole religious group because of what a few whackos on 911 did.We don't stop the construction of catholic schools and other catholic ran facilities because a few priests molested some kids.I do not expect Baptist Christians to speak out every-time the Phelps gang running their provoke and sue scam says god hates fags at the funerals of soldiers.And I actually respect the 4th amendment so strip search every Muslim who boards a plane is no different than the anti-2nd amendment loons in office who wipe their ass with the 2nd amendment.

I don't think the Mosque will be banned but Muslims should be confronted for what's happening in the name of their religion. If they can riot over a cartoon then they should be able to speak out against the treatment of women and you girls, as well as their denial of rights to other religions.

Muslims should have the same rights as those members of the Westboro Baptist Church. All are protected under law.

Most Muslims did not riot over the Mohamed cartoons. Nor is it the job of every Muslim to speak against those who do terrorism or extreamists who treat women like garbage. Just like its not every Christian's job to speak out against Fred Phelps, pedophile priests, Warren Jeffs or any other person associated with Christianity who does something bad.

I have no idea what the 'job' of a Muslims is but you seem to feel that they should not be identified with a religion which condones the genital mutilation of young girls, executes gays and adulterous women and attacks and murders Jews and Christians.

I wold not belong to such a religion, just as I would not be a member of the KKK, or the Nazi Party, or the Communist Party, despite many of them being decent enough people. Of course the fact that they can be murdered for daring to speak out, or for leaving Islam, probably silences many who otherwise might protest against the atrocities being carried out in the name of Allah.

That you don't know that most Christians did speak out against those people you mentioned, and that they were sent to prison, underscores your lack of knowledge on the subject. That's why when discussing Islam it is best to keep Islam the subject, rather than veering the discussion off into other religions. Comparing bad with bad is not a defense anyway.
