Kennesaw City Council rejects mosque proposal

Can't blame people for not wanting a potential Jihadist recruiting center in their city.

You wouldn't want me to start comparing homosexuals to terrorists now would ya?

Other than trying my damnedest to prevent their co-opting of marriage, I haven't suppressed anything.

Suppressing their freedom to enter into a contract with a person of their choosing. A contract that you are not part of, but want to suppress anyway. Nothing is "co-opted," because nothing in your life is changed.

Your blatant double standard with the first amendment is just comical.

I only provided reasoning for not allowing a mosque. You figure out whether it was going to be one that recruited terrorists or not.

You claimed that it might be used. Is there any direct proof that this mosque will be used as one? Hell maybe a Catholic church might be used for a recruiting station for the IRA? Better not allow more Catholic churches because of a very slight possibility... Right? Hysteria and fear! That overpowers the first amendment right?!

"This building could hypothetically house terrorists" is reasoning?

Wow, you really don't give two ****s about the first amendment, or due process for that matter.

Town center, disturbance 5 times a day every day. Not cool, not good for businesses.

I guess in the town center there is also no day care where parents are in and out at all hours, no tobacco or liquor stores where people are in and out all day, no restaurants where you get rushes multiples times during the day, or really any kind of business that might expect people coming and going and might disturb the silent other businesses who have no customers.

Here is a thing to consider though. Say an Evangelical church wanted to start up in a very secular liberal area where the common belief was that Christians are vile people. What if the church there was denied and people quoted fears of "the churches breed homophobes." The fear of breeding terrorists isn't rational, you can't deny someone of their rights based on fear of what they might do without any evidence.

I saw WCH dancing with the devil.

Never heard the call to prayer broadcast have you. It's not the same as street noise.

So you are okay with denying people the right to practice their religion in the United States of America?

I'm OK with not giving Islamic radicals a place to forment their hate and recruit terrorists. YES I damn sure am.

Islam has a bad track record and you know it.

Champion of individual liberty, right here. :lamo

**** due process, **** religious freedom, WCH doesn't like these people so they don't have rights.

How come you don't want to block the building of churches? Those places can breed radicals.

I live very close to Kennesaw Ga, and I am not shocked at all by the decision. I may not agree, but am not shocked.

You got proof that's what this group was doing?

From what I know it's rarely broadcast in American Mosques and we don't know if this one was planning on having it.

I do hear the church bells from the 2 Catholic churches in my area multiples times a day though. I know it's not the same but they still ring loudly and really early.

I posted an example of why it's quite rational to assume they are using mosques for such.

I find it shocking that people here who voted for Barack H. Obama are making themselves out to be champions of the First Amendment. Or any of the Constitution for that matter. That's real laugher.

So you are admitting you are in favor of violating the 1st amendment....

That's been my experience out West, that they don't broadcast the call for prayer. Re-read my original post, I was citing that as the only possible valid reason for denial.

The churches who do that bother me too, and in most neighborhoods around here have stopped the practice. But it's only one day a week.

Well it seems that you're kind of on Obama's level when it comes to respecting the Constitution, given your arguments.

No, that's not rational. Presumption of guilt based on religious identification is in direct opposition to everything this country was founded on.

Says the guy literally arguing an entire religion has no religious freedom because of hypothetical crimes.

Church behind my house rings every hour and every half hour....

And yes, I have heard the call to prayer, I've been to a few muslim countries.

Well now, just try being catholic in revolutionary America.

The churches around here bang on their bells all the god damned time. So can we get rid of all the Christian churches too? Or is this just against Muslims?
