Democrats take to House floor in ‘Hands up, don’t shoot’ Ferguson protest

I take issue with calling Charles Barkley a black leader.

I don't think Barley could lead his dog to use the bathroom.

Cmon now Mason. :2wave: That's Sir Charles.....Right Guard, anything else would be uncivilized.

they should do something that might help, like fund cameras for all police officers. i know the police don't like it much, but it is going to happen. there are just too many of these incidents where the officer has one account and someone else has another, and you just don't know who is telling the truth. just require the officers to wear cameras and pass the funding for it.

A handful of Democrats took to the House floor to protest the lack of an indictment in the shooting of an unarmed teen in Ferguson — raising their arms to their chest and displaying open palms in a “Hands up, don’t shoot” gesture.

Among the congressional members to send the not-so-subtle message of alliance with St. Louis-area protesters late Monday night were New York’s Hakeem Jeffries and Yvette Clarke, as well as Texas’ Al Green.

Saw this on Morning Joe's show (complete with pictures of the idiots doing it). He's about to boil over. This is day 2 of his rants about the idiots who are perpetuating the lie that the PD shoots people whose hands are raised in surrender.

Nice. Now our lawmakers are doing this? And this is supposed to help the current situation in Ferguson....how?

You want to object to the GJ's decision....fine. I get that and while I disagree, I support it. But to see lawmakers intentionally carrying on a lie and implying that the police officers shot Brown while he was in surrender is disgusting. But except for Joe Scarborough and a few right wingers, nobody will call them to task for this.

At first, I had a head shaking moment reading your post. Then I realized I had the whole thing wrong.

What they were doing was illustrating what young blacks are doing in the moments before other young blacks murder them in the streets. Thousands and thousands die this way every year, so it's clear that is what they were trying to draw attention to.

Obviously I must do a better job with my first reactions. It's obvious those three would not be ignoring such a tragic fact on the House floor.

:(

I wonder how much a professional gets paid per post here?

not sure about posters. staff gets paid in tears of fury, though. i use mine for vodka martinis in place of vermouth.

Cmon now Pero. Its just a family squabble.....once the little brothers and sisters of the Leftism are shown they are not the Big Brothers like they thought. All will get back to being Right.

I doubt it.

That the stupidity of "hands up don't shoot" has migrated to the Congressional floor is not surprising - our elected officials in some cases can be and are some of the most moronic people on the planet.

Joe Scarborough goes off the 2nd day in a row on MSNBC.

Should have had the Sgt At Arms shoot them, their districts, and the rest of us, would have better off without them.

These politicians are complaining because when MB attempted to take someone's gun he got shot. They want to make sure that doesn't happen to them. They are not there yet.

They were elected in their districts. We would be better off without them. The business owners in Ferguson should have burned down the projects.

Pants up, don't loot.

Contrary to what some would say (and I've seen it), there are good people in that community who know what's right and what's wrong. Even if they were simply advisors to the governmental bodies and police, it would go a long way to healing the problems in the community.

Just take race out of the equation, and you've still got massive mistrust built up between the people of Ferguson and the police (and by extension, the government they represent). Something needs to be done about that, but I don't think anybody's got the nads to do it. People on both sides seem more like they want to play the "I'm right, you're wrong" game, which doesn't help anything at all.

Then why do we have to hear repeatedly that 70% of Ferguson is black, but 90% of the police force is white, if that isn't the issue?

I'm going to guess that most of the residents of Ferguson are good people who have no issue with their PD, and like the comfort of knowing that they're kept safe by them, and a 911 call will get them help when they need it.

Actually, I tend to think we should let communities police themselves. If the African-American communities policed themselves, it takes race out of the equation entirely.

Heya 88. :2wave: Hows that work for Arabs? Sorry I just don't think they can handle their extremists, and we don't need tunnel rats scurrying about, knowwhatImean.

Weren't those congress members part of the Congressinal Black Caucus that has no black Repbulicans?

What intolerant bigots.

I don't consider it a bad thing that our lawmakers are finally taking an interest in civil liberties and such. If what results from this is de-militarized police, body cameras to protect both cop and citizen from false allegations, stricter rules regarding how laws are enforced, and so on, then I see it as nothing but progress regardless of my personal opinion on the Ferguson incident. If it takes a police shooting that never passed the grand jury to usher in reform, so be it.

What part of 'militarized' policing do you have a problem with? (Understanding that that was specifically NOT something the administration advocates).

When were the police militarized? What does that have to do with Ferguson?

Amazing. It's the first time I've heard of congress people engaging in showboating.

Who said there was a concerted effort to "Help things in Ferguson"?

The continuing civil protest of "Hands up, Don't Shoot" has nothing to do with the GJ action or Ferguson in particular. Anyone that has a problem with the protests can go kick rocks.

It is the exercise of one of the oldest tricks in the book being played out right before your eyes.... "Repeat a lie enough times and people will start to believe it"

Can you bring yourself to say, out loud, that Brown didn't raised his hands in surrender? Bet you can't...

So it doesn't bother you that Obama and the democrats only ever respond to shootings when they can get some political points out of it?

Texas has suffered the blunt of Obama's radicalism. So you're shooting the bird at your own state.

Please pack your bags and get the **** out.

I am also a Texan who thinks you are wrong. It's the conservatives who have given the bird to this state. But believe me, as soon as I am able to pack my bags and leave the state the better, and I was born here!

Oh I think its a bad thing that we have Politicians that are this stupid.

These are the same people that had the wool pulled over their eyes by Fidel Castro when they were invited to visit Cuba a while back.

Politicians that are this moronic represent a substantial threat.
